I don't think it's Englund's fault, but more so Ronny Yu, because what you stated is true. He has only seen the first film of each respective franchise. If nothing else, Cunningham could've stepped in....but we all know that's about unlikely as Ronny Yu being able to logically think.

Yeah I can't blame Englund really. I've never cared for FVJ, it plays more like a NOES with Jason co-staring then a mix of the two. The biggest issue I have with it is they did a small backstory with Freddy but showed nothing of Jason's backstory.

Exactly, which is why I felt they had some of the wrong people behind it. There was a lot more ground that could've been covered, honestly. All we got from Jason was the fact that he drowned, & that was it. But, with Freddy, they essentially showed his entire origins as soon as the film starts.

It's ridiculous, really. It's sad to see potential wasted with projects like this. I do have a lot of love for FVJ, but at the end of the day I still recognize how much more could've been done with it.

I love FVJ to death and back but much like other entries in both series', it is flawed.

I love Ronny Yu and FVJ looks great visually but they should of went with someone with more of a knowledge of the series. Of course his Child's Play film (Bride of Chucky) turned out great IMO but that's because they had series creator Don Mancini on board, as well as the same producer as the previous entries.

I must admit i have never seen Freddy vs. Jason. although I always wanted it as a kid...

I will say part 1 because I always gravitate towards the background/scenery. t reminds me of my cottage which is still the same years and years later.

I covet.
