People don't like Hodder because well, he sucks. So he breathes heavy and moves his head before the rest of his body, big deal. He's definitely near the bottom of my list of favorite actors to play Jason. The fact that he told the director that "Jason wouldn't kill a dog." and refused to do what was in the script makes me hate him even more. The director should have said okay fuck you, and fired him on the spot and replaced him with someone who shuts the fuck up and does what they are told.

I think part of his popularity is his name itself
Kane Hodder, it's a good name for a man behind a mask or the name of an unknow killer when it's finally revealed. It's no proof or garenette of doing a good job tho. Not that I think he's bad or even the best. But once you've nailed down the overall quality of a given movie, then show me where the guy playing Jason has then elevated or drug down the movie to any substantial degree.

Derek Mears is the only entertaining thing in the remake. So I'd say he elevated that movie from being pure shit to worth watching for his portrayal of Jason.

Kane Hodder is just fine as Jason just nothing special. He's my least favorite Jason.

It's all about that Brooker/White combination (Parts 3 & 4). I never really cared for Hodder myself.

I wonder how much they cut out of Part 5. Too bad they never released an Unrated version. Love the bodycount, but there's not pretty much blood or explicit gore there.

The guys who put together the deluxe editions of 4-8 tried their best to find what uncut footage they can but a lot of it is lost and can't be found. For example the footage for Part VII was thrown out in the early '90's. All that exists is the workprint footage found on the boxset and deluxe edition. |

![]() But for what's it worth I think Hodder gave a hell of a lot more to his performance as Crowley than he did with Jason, but it's probably because he had more freedom in that his face was visible.
