It was before Back to the Future too. I've been learning how to play songs from Schoolhouse Rock on the guitar this week

Get the fuck out, my dad left me an acoustic guitar before he moved to Florida and I taught myself a few chords. I'm seriously contemplating taking lessons, you should hear this axe, it's about 50 years old, made in Spain.

I've been playing for about 20 years now and teach second grade music now, and record my own music. I say go for it! A great way to start is to check out some music books from ther library that show chords, maybe buy a music book for a band you like.

The first book I bought was RUSH COMPLETE, and the first song I learned how to play was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, but I loved getting old traditional music books from the library, old field songs, traditional songs, weird stuff, obscure stuff, just to be playing anything.
