Yeah, Francis was a damn good director and had a great eye- one of the best-if not the best of cinematographers too. Dig those scenes on the rooftops!

There's a lot of things I like about RISEN. I liked the characters more than most in the series. Thought Barry Andrews (think that's his name)was a pretty cool protagonist in contrast to some of the stuffier ones. He's great in BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW too- a favorite non-Hammer Brit horror flick of mine.

Andrew Keir does a good job filling in for Van Helsing as the vampire killing monk too.

And Veronica Carlson is one of the best of the "Hammer Girls" IMO.

All the Drac death scenes are great in the series, but the one in RISEN's one of my favorites.

Carlson was also really good in Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed. She was a pretty good actress. Andrew Keir was in Dracula:Prince Of Darkness not Dracula Has Risen From The Grave. He was one of the best Hammer regulars.

Ah, shit, that's right!

And I just watched the series straight through about a month ago too!

Think I watched those 2 the same night- that's probably why they ran together in my mind.

Yeah...that's it.

You mentioned FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE... earlier too, which happens to be my favorite of that series.

Have you ever tried to watch all of the Frankenstein movies in a row? I did it once. I am going to do another Hammer marathon soon and I am trying to figure out what to watch next.

Frankenstein Must Be destroyed is pretty badass. I have read that Peter Cushing felt so bad about having to rape Veronica Carlson that he got the scene to be shortened. His peformance in it reminds me of when Henry Fonda played Frank in Once Upon A Time In The West.

Nobody wanted the scene in the film. It was an insistence by American financers. But when they saw the final product they only removed the scene anyway, though for some reason other countries kept the scene intact.

Personally I didn't like the scene in there.

You can pretty much figure out what happened to her even after the scene is cut out. Sometimes just the suggestion of something happening can be just as disturbing as seeing it happen.
