I love the movie and pop it on every once in a while. Saw the documentary that was on the DVD, I figure the "real" lady is just a schizoid looking for attention.

It's a fairly good movie, much better than most that come out of Hollywood nowadays that's for sure.

This film can be considered the spiritual predecessor to Paranormal Activity.

It was made in a time when horror movies, overall, didn't bother with subtlety, from what i recall The Entity creates an unsettling atmosphere in some very low tech ways.

There was no gore to speak of, i don't think, the tension that is created is effectively maintained all the way to the end, even if i felt the finale was too fantastical for my tastes, it didn't mesh tonally with everything that came before.

What drives this film is the excellent central performance by Hershey, she goes through the gamut of emotions with ease and you will feel every emotion she does.

Not sure how this film will hold up after all these years but i will have to find out, it scared me silly when i watched it as a teenager

Watched this one again last night and it's a good film.
It's got a couple of creepy scenes....

...one in particular when Barbara Hershey is attacked by the "entity" in front of her children.

...and the music when strange things start to happen really makes the hairs on your neck stand up.
I didn't find Hershey's character to be very likeable and she seemed to always talk in riddles! Apart from that I enjoyed it.
Hershey is in Insidious which is released soon and it does seem to be similar in plot to The Entity (as well as Poltergeist). Quite looking forward to it.
