Friday the 13th Part 2 (201?)

I liked seeing Jason being portrayed in this dark manner, banging the body bag against a tree, running after his victims, making the black guy wait outside yelling for help to his friends before killing him by pushing the axe down in him. It could've been better, but it succeeded where it needed in that it gave gore, sex, kills, and a fresh storyline.

No way, the writing for the remake is way below the quality of V's writing/story. Hell at least V had interesting characters, the remake sure didn't.

I think part 5 had a decent story to tell you the truth. I just through the director did a horrible job on selling the premise. I don't mind that it was Roy, I do mind that they didn't spend a little more time with Tommy. Instead they invested all their spare frames into tits and gore because they were too scared the story wouldn't hold.

However, "Damn Enchiladas!," is one of the all time greatest Friday lines. I do also enjoy a lot of the characters in the movie. Honestly it's a diamond in the rough if you can see past the porn quality directing. They really dropped the ball on what could have been a much better film.

I did enjoy some of those parts. When Jason ran out of that shed and threw that axe it was the only time the movie got my blood pumping. The calling for help part I did like at first, but after further though, it actually ruined the movie a bit. In fact, we'd have to step back a bit to when Clay and whatsherface discovered Jason.

You know what a BIG difference is in this F13th. The kids knew they were being hunted. In most of the other Fridays, the teens have NO IDEA that Jason is even after them. By them being aware and Jason letting him know he was there, you put the characters in defense mode. Again, as a viewer I feel safer because I know the characters are prepared. That's huge. In fact, now that I think about it, that's what always scared me as a kid when watching Friday. They had no idea and you did. Jason is usually never 'discovered' till the last 15 minutes to the film.

The other part of that is that there were all together as a group most of the time. Give me a break about that shower scene too. Why was she in the bathroom? Why would she look behind the shower curtain for the dude she was just railing. What, did she expect Trent to be there just chilling in a dry tub?

I thought the gore was ok. The practical FX however were directed very poorly. Jason's wardrobe and makeup were just a little TOO "Hollywood." Jason's get up was so over the top that it took me out of the movie a bit. I thought they could have toned it down and gotten a much better effect.

The tits? IDK, I've said it before. I'll watch porn if I want to see tits. I think over doing tits in a horror movie these days is just childish. If you want to nod to the classic and flash some boob, I'd actually like to see it done subtly and only for a moment just to kind of say "Hey, you old school guys, we know you're out there. Here it is, just a little something for you, but that's it. Don't want to over do it here. We're trying to class up the joint a little bit."

I can't agree with you on fresh storyline either. Most of the movie dealt with a set of college kids showing up at a lake house to party for the weekend only to meet Jason and get killed. That's, 3, 4 & 7 specifically.

The Clay searching for his sister story line was lifted from Rob's story in part 4 with added the tweak that she was still alive.

So yea. That's my latest rant.

It's the red headed step child of the franchise, and frankly, after having four movies of practically the same thing I was glad the series took a left turn into sleazy territory.

Ok well I do want this prequel to happen but it won't. Give it another few years and there will be another F13 sequel that you dream for with Platinum Dunes on the side.

All good points. I enjoyed the remake quite a bit. It was far better than Zombie's Halloween remake and that POS that is the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I eagerly await a sequel to the F13 remake.

Yes it's better than zombieween. On second viewing zombieween wasn't as bad as I thought. It was actually quite superior compared to H2, my opinion. ANOES wasn't too bad though.
