Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel - Prometheus (2012)

I just realized a few days ago that I already think of this movie like I think of other great sci-fi films such as 2001 and Alien.

I was looking at the moon and I got that "curious" feeling that star gazing gives me. All of the endless wonders and possibilities of the universe washed over my thoughts and Prometheus popped into my head. I love that feeling, and I love the movies that help me visualize the wonder of the universe.

I wouldn't put it that high yet, but it was just as good as recent sci-fi darlings, like Sunshine, or Moon.

Yeah I don't mean I would label it as an all time great, but it gives me that same feeling of scope and grandeur.

Sunshine is a good movie to compare it to. Great film.

I love how this film is opened ended and not everything is resolved. Hollywood needs to make more films like it.

I hope this gets a sequel cause I'm hanging to see what happens to Shaw and David.

Agreed.

I'm happy either way, I'd love to see it further explored, however only if Scott is at the helm, it is his Universe. It's a SUCH a shame Dan O'Bannon is gone, his thoughts and input if asked would be amazing. I mean, Scott gets all the glory, but it was very much O'Bannons child.

I wouldn't mind if Scott didn't return to the directors chair. It'd be interesting to see what someone else could do with the material. Look at the leap in Alien to Aliens.

Yes there are a leap, but the films are so different it isn't funny, I'm not arguing how great they are. But it's an entirely different feel and take. Which can be good, but something so story driven as this, I just think it needs a more consistent approach. If Scott isn't directing I at least hope he is heavily involved. I know he wanted Cameron to help on this one, but he said no because he is too into his Avatar crap. Which is less than crap compared to this, lucked out Camo.
