Funny thing is after reading all that you still have no idea of the origins of the xenomorphs or space jockey. It's all just speculation and various interpretations. Which in many ways makes this Alien venture much more anticipated.

So apparently Neville Page is the main creature designer on this with Giger acting as a creative consultant. His film portfolio includes Cloverfield, Tron Legacy & Star Trek (09) among others. Page on the task at hand:

"My approach is nervous. I approach Ridley with great nervous energy because it is such an undertaking. ['Alien'] was the movie that inspired everything for me, not just creature design, but filmmaking in general," he tells the site. "It is a huge undertaking to try and take it to the next level; to make Ridley proud, to make [H.R.] Giger proud, there's a lot involved with that."

I really just don't see how this movie can turn out to be a complete and utter failure, like so many other long-hyped pictures sometimes become (Land of the Dead, anyone?). The talent's right, the ambiguity of the plot and the universe it will unravel in is intriguing...no, it may not end up a masterpiece, but I'm willing to bet it's gonna be damned good. Also, I think most sci-fi/horror fans feel the same way I do in this regard.

Though I'm interested in seeing a new good alien movie, I'm mostly just interested in Ridley Scott's return to sci fi. And to that I say FUCKKKKK YESSSS

I really liked Land of the Dead. It had decent acting, a good story and the water scene was pretty awesome. Why did you think this was a failure?
