Warner Bros certainly let him do what he wants. Inception was his reward for Knights massive box office haul. Yes, his films aren't perfect, not many are, but for a director working within the system they're pretty good.

I'm not going to start now. Once the film is out I'd like to see some of the source material.

ACP isn't worth anyone's breath. The only person to make a "perfect" movie is Coppola with The Godfather. And Kubrick isn't the only filmmaker to have carte blanche with a studio. He's a moron.

No one said he has made a perfect film but Christopher Nolan is a perfectionist meaning he doesn't rush a project or put anything else on his plate until he has finished with what he is doing, that is what a perfectionist is.

And on the second point. Have you read any of the comics? Because the only thing from the Nolan movies that was a bit of a misstep was that scarecrow wasn't used to the best of his potential. Other than that they are some of the best adapted works from the comic book medium that aren't exact interpretations like Sin City and 300.

Any A list filmmakers have carte blanche, and there's a ton of "perfect movies".

So what? A lot of filmmakers work on a project then move on. This doesn't make Nolan special.

Scorsese still has it, he's one of the greatest living filmmakers. Coppola has lost it; once a great director, but not anymore.

Who wouldn't? Coppola hasn't been relevant in 20 years years. Hell, his daughter has been cranking out the gems in that family.
