Barton Fink - 10/10

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen - 6.5/10

When you take this giant mess into consideration and pure eye-candy for eye candy's sake, it works.... kind of. The underlying story here about the Decepticons unleashing an ancient evil that hates humanity for the purpose of destroying earth with the big laser thing is interesting enough and probably just as exciting and menacing as anything in the first film. Unfortunately, it is just buried under some of the most confusing artistic decisions every put in a big-budget action movie. Not one character in this movie acts like a real human beings, its confusing, bizarre, and extremely distracting. None of the humor works, and unfortunately even some of the insanely brilliant and beautiful action sequences and special effects get lost in translation. The first hour - hour and fifteen minutes of this movie is a true chore to get through. The constant onslaught of continuity errors in the action sequences stand out as well. Wtf happened here Michael Bay.

Still, as pure action-packed, mouth-breathing idiocy, I can't help but give this a semi-decent score just because it truly is unmatched in quality (special effects wise). The blu-ray is stunning. A must own for anybody who wants to show off their HD system.

Tiny Furniture (2010)

Tiny Furniture is a low-budget indie gem from Lena Dunham. I caught wind of the movie when watching the documentary Side by Side with Keanu Reeves. The movie generated a lot of buzz because it was shot using a Canon EOS 7D (Google it!). Frankly, the blu-ray looks phenomenal and it's very awe inspiring knowing this film was shot using a a $1500 DSLR.
Dunham created and currently stars in Girls which airs on HBO and it's received a number of awards (Emmy's, etc). I think I may download a few episodes.

For fans of:

I rented the VHS from a local furniture store so often that when they finally stopped offering rentals, they called and said I could have their copy of ROTJ!

Lincoln (7.5/10) - As a historical retelling I can't really fault the movie and obviously a great performance by Daniel Day Lewis. However its not really a film I can see myself revisiting much in the future.

They call her one eye (1973) (7/10) - A grim minimalist Swedish revenge flick whose story thankfully differs from LHOTL etc. The slow-mos are a kinda lame but overall I liked its aesthetic. There is also a gory scene with an eye which at the time I thought was good f/x however reading up on it they used a real corpse of some poor girl who had committed suicide and filmed it in hospital amazed they can get away with that.

Basically a film like this either works or fails based on whether or not you buy into the relationship between the partnership of the two officers, and the best thing about the film is the fact that you follow these two guys into their personal lives away from being officers and their actions and interactions as friends is 100% genuine.

Yeah, the characters are so well written and they put up such fantastic performances that it just draws you into their lives. Such a well handled film, one of the years best.

Kill List - 9/10

What a strange, strange sense of dread this film gives off. The ending is mesmerizing.

A Serbian Film - Uncut

Ok, I think I just watched the most fucked up movie Ive seen thus far. I didnt puke or even feel sick. I did however feel inspired. I feel as if I watched the closest thing there is to a snuff film in terms of shock value. I do not have a rating for this yet as it will take me time to process what I just seen. I will say thank you to those who reccomended it to me. Does my not being offended but amazed make me a sick fuck?
