Default Buried (2010)

Release Date: TBA 2010
Studio: Lionsgate
Director: Rodrigo Cortés
Screenwriter: Chris Sparling
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Ivana Mino, Anne Lockhart
Genre: Thriller
Quote:
Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.
I am really fucking look forward to this. Lionsgate picking it up is promising because then it could actually get Theater time.

I watched the trailer for this the other day. It actually looks like it could be good.

I really enjoyed Open Water and I'm quite looking forward to Frozen, as well as Buried!

It's always nice when actors are strong enough to have basically nothing to go off of, other than direction. It should be interesting to see what Reynolds can do when on screen entirely alone.

LOL I wouldn't put too much hope into Lionsgate releasing this in theaters. They'll probably release this into one or two $1.50 theaters and then dump it to DVD.

Served Midnight Meat Train style.

It's too much of an intriguing film for it to just get stuck on DVD. It's already building some good buzz online, it'll hit cinemas i think.

Midnight Meat Train went straight to dvd because it was shit.

This looks interesting, but Lionsgate definitely has a long track record of crap releases. They've got some good ones too, though. We'll see..

Hell if it wasn't for Twatlight I don't think Lionsgate would've released Daybreakers in theaters.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. It was dumped to DVD because the new president of Lionsgate decided, due to bullshit studio politics, to dump all the former president's films.

Midnight Meat Train was mistreated due to immature and selfish management not because it was shit (which it isn't).

MMT also had a good deal of positive buzz behind it before it was dumped so that doesn't mean shit.

Let's not remind ourselves of Warner Bros' treatment of Trick 'r Treat. A film with a shitload of positive buzz behind it that got dumped straight to DVD.

MMT and TrT were nothing but over hyped b grade horror flicks. And any buzz around them didn't reach much further than horror movie sites.

Buried isn't a slashy horror flick, it's something that could appeal to a much wider audience and the buzz for it is extending beyond just a core group of fans.
