i always thought the lagoon creature in monster squad was pretty cool. i guess that's a given though because all those creatures looked fucking awesome.

I haven't seen that one in a long time. You know, I use to love the sleestaks too. For a children's show, they were quite creepy! real creepy! They had those haunting sounds and they were vicious! They are one of those creatures that if they to become an action figure. I would probably buy it. Cool!

I always wondered why there are so many countless vampire, zombie, frankenstein, werewolf, etc., movies made and being made. Yet there seems to be a lack of good old fashioned gill-man movies...what gives???

Good question, really! I guess because there was always vampire, werewolf, movies before the Universals. This was their very own creation and it's all about copyrights and so forth.

Yeah, but it wouldn't have to be The Creature From the Black Lagoon, per se. Just like not every vampire movie is Count Dracula. Just have a generic creature-esque sea monster ravaging half-naked Spring Breakers...how is this movie not getting made?!?!?!

Have you ever seen "Humanoids from the deep? It was a cheesie, sleazy Corman produced film that sort of delivers that stuff. It's pretty cool!

I actually just saw that recently. I don't know, being a huge Corman fan, it seems like something up my alley, but for whatever reason it just didn't do it for me. I suppose it had its moments, though. But that was 25 years ago or so! The time is looooong overdue for a new sea-man movie. Maybe I'll head over to pretty-disgusting.com and pitch my idea! Haha...

Yeah, the Creature would save me from the bad monsters when I was a kid. He's still my favorite. I'm glad to see others appreciate him!

A couple of Summers ago, they played this in 3-D at my local art house theatre...because the guy who chooses the films is also a huge Horror and Exploitation buff. That was a treat. I felt priviledged.
