One of my favorite Universal Monsters, ever since I saw Monster Squad. The original was great- one of the first films with an 'environmental' message.

I first discovered the Creature movies as a child back in the early 70's, and immediately fell in love with the first two films...the third one never really grabbed me. I remember not liking the fact that most of the film took place on a farm, nor the way the Creature ended up at movie's end.
So, over the decades i never really watched it again. Every year around Halloween, AMC, or AE or whatever would play all the old Universal classics, and i would always make it a point to watch the first two Creature films, but never the third. About four years ago, i bought the Creature Legacy collection, and watched all three of them, and i have to say Creature Walks Among Us isnt a bad movie at all...certainly a lot better than i remember it. I enjoyed the drama between the characters a great deal. I guess the underlying tone of infidelity was completely lost on me on my initial viewing as a six year old. I also think actor Don Megowan did a fantastic job as the Creature, conveying many emotions quite easily, such as anger and dispair, through his body motion alone as his face was completely covered. Of the three, i'd have to say that it is still probably the one i like the least, but i now find myself revisiting it at least once a year. Anyone else have any thoughts on the third entry...?

The Creature Walks Among Us certainly isn't a bad movie. I recently re-watched it as well, and will say it's not devoid of merit. The idea of mankind irreversibly tampering with the Creature to where he becomes forced out of his natural habitat is a strong message, and definately adds drama to the overall story the film is presenting to the viewer.
However, having said that, it's very much my least favorite of the series. Revenge has a fun factor to it that Walks Among Us doesn't really have, and the original creature design, which is brilliant is SEVERELY missed as well. Though we do get to see the Creature in all his original glory for a brief amount of time. |

There is a second one? *DumbassFactor* Have to see it. The original was a great film. Julie Adams reminds me a lot of Dita Von Teese. Beautiful.
