I hear ya, but hasn't Cain only fought twice, since Kongo? Basically, he hasn't shown me anything that would suggest he's improved greatly in the stand-up department. Nog is a punching bag, who always gets tagged, and Lesnar is far from a stand-up technician.

He's good enough on his feet, to make lesser guys look foolish, but JDS is on a whole different level than Cain's last few opponents. I also really do think, that Cain's injury will effect him too.

I am honestly incredibly excited for this fight. Two guys who are very talented, intelligent, fast, without cardio issues, have great chins, and show improvement in every fight. You don't often get that in a HW MMA fight.
Watch the fight last like ten seconds, after all the hype.

But yeah, I can't think of another title fight that was so hard to call, and had so much potential to be a classic.

Anyone willing to put it on the line and make a pick? I'll start us off, I'm going with JDS he seems to improve every fight and I don't believe Cain has had a striker the calibre of Dos Santos able to stay in the pocket and trade with him.

We should bring the sig bets back. They were fun. I'm with you on JDS, so no dice with me, but I'm sure you could find someone picking Cain.

It's very hard to believe that after such a lengthy layoff, that Valesquez would opt to throw down with the meanest and by far, the hungriest Lion in the UFC Jungle, as in Dos Santos. You would think for his first encounter back after the injury, his camp would of directed Valesquez to a 'tune up' bout, just to guage his wind, legs, and overall strength. In my eyes, I don't even think the fight will be even a little close, I can see Dos Santos completely overwhelming Valesquez from first ring till he either knocks Valesquez out silly, or stoppage, I can't imagine any submissions when these two beasts trade up. I see a Dos Santos victory in the same vein as when Jones completely overmatched Shogun, just a little while ago. Right at this moment in time, Dos Santos looks frightening in the cage. Is there any truth to the whispers of George Saint Pierre finally quieting Nick Diaz? That matchup would be simply legendary. InGSP, Diaz will finally meet someone that he can't indimidate, and get into the mindset of. I'd be willing to put my house up on G.S.P in that showdown with Diaz. I really hope that all the beuracratic bullshit behind the scenes between Dana White and the forces that be can be ironed out to give the fans this awesome encounter between the two combatants.

You don't get "tune up" fights, when you're the champ.

I've got JDS as well.

Little late to the party, eh? It's official, and is happening in Las Vegas in October.

Don't count Diaz out though. He's just as good off his back, as GSP is on top. I'm on the opposite side, in thinking that it's GSP who finally has someone who can challenge him wherever the fight goes. I think we'll finally see an exciting GSP fight, that is more than him just grinding out a decision.

Should be a classic.

You think we will see a GSP finish after all this time of waiting?

I think if anyone will finish, it will be Diaz. However, if GSP wins, I`d have to lean towards a decision, but Diaz will make it a hell of a lot more entertaining than GSP`s last couple of fights.

This has all the makings of a war.

Sodding hope so getting really sick of watching GSP decision wins. Sure he dismantles his opponents but he has no killer instinct like truly exciting fighters. You can be great at everything but if you have no flare or an edge you will never truly be great in the eyes of fans.

Who's watching the the second half of the quarter final HW tourney tonight? Some predictions:

Rogers vs Barnett - I really want Rogers to knock Barnett's head into the second row, but I doubt it. Barnett is too experienced, and I think Rogers has been a little ruined, with his lop-sided losses to Fedor and Overeem, and won't be very confident. I say Barnett pounds him out, and rather convincingly.

Barnett via 2nd Round TKO

Overeem vs Werdum - Finally, Overeem is getting a true test at HW. I know Werdum has a victory over him already, but that was quite some time ago. I just can't picture Overeem and his Hulk-like body getting caught in any sort of submission. That leaves it on the feet, and I just see Overeem steamrolling Werdum, like he's been doing to others as of late. Lot's of "butt-scooting", will be done by Werdum, but I don't see Overeem getting caught up in the ground game. He's gonna smash Werdum over and over. As long as Overeem keeps his cool, unlike Fedor did, he'll take this.

Overeem via 1st Round KO

No way Overeem will KO him in the first. My $ is on Overeem tho .. but if Werdum wins this .. he has the tourny imo

I agree with your analysis of the other fight.

Also .. the winner of the Grand Prix should be fucking champ ..
