The lists that made it to the finals weren't all that diverse, they just knew their audience, so I wouldn't sweat it.

That's the key, but no matter how hard I try I keep thinking everyone's taste is as bad as mine...

I think you're probably right. As much as some of us pretend to have varied tastes and only want a diverse palette of music, metal and the like tends to get the most votes.

It's the same way that while the idea of diversity is thrown about in the All Genre Drafts, the winners have no less than five horror movies. Know your audience.

travisbickle - Come on in and join! The song draft is pretty laid back and people seem to draft all different kinds of lists and themes. I have been surprised by some of the voting match up's in recent years so you never know what type of lists will advance. Adds a little excitement to the voting process and rounds.

Thought about going with an all metal list this year but probably will just pick obscure songs I love. Have a few ideas but not sure how I'll go this year. As always looking forward to learning about new bands through the draft

I don't think I've ever done the song draft before... maybe I have... but I don't really remember if I do. I did the artist draft. That was one of the only times I ever made it past round 1!

Everybody who listened to my list from last year in its entirety, and liked it (i.e. Me) should expect more of the same this year.

I try to go more for recommendations of the bands and artists I love. I also try and theme my list in a way that you could make a flowing CD out of it, if you were to listen to all the tracks back-to-back (which I usually do anyway).

The song draft is possibly the only draft where there is pretty much 0% chance of anyone stealing my picks. Not just because I seem to have different musical tastes to a lot of you, but also because there is so much great music out there to choose from.

Obviously, the above also leads to a pretty much 0% chance of me progressing out of the first round. Although, as mentioned numerous times before, this draft is all about recs and sharing the music I love with people who may not be aware of it. Looking forward to hearing everyone's picks.
