Does it really mean that much to people that a movie is remade?

Whether it be Ichi, Samara, or Blue Children we all fear them, but which is feared most by the members of this group???

Asian Horror! June 28, 2010 9:25 amWhat is your favorite J-horror movie?
-
Ringu, Audition and, I don’t if this counts but, Godzilla.
-
of course Godzilla counts…especially if you are reffering to the black and white films from Japan…
I got to ask why you dont have love for “Ju-On”…
-
Noroi The Curse subtly scared the shit out of me and I love it for that.
-
compared to American horror the Japanese (read Asian) horror industry doesnt rely solely on gratuitous violence to survive, but instead relies on pure fear and witty directing, writing, and acting to entertain the masses…
-
I’m a fan of the Ringu series.
I also like A Tale of Two Sisters, Ju-On, Godzilla, Gamera (I’m assuming he counts if Godzilla does ^^)
Would Battle Royale count or would that be categorized as something else??[Read more]
-
Freakin love the Ju-On series also Ringu, H, and of course the Vengeance trilogy oh and One missed call. Almost forgot Hiiiii, im Ichi Skin, nice to meet you all big love for asian horror
-
i guess “Battle Royale” would count if you wanted it too, but i wont be particularly picky myself…
Ichi: how do you feel about the third installment of the japanese “One Missed Call” series??
-
Havent seen it yet. Only caught the first one by accident on film 4 the other night but will be sure to check them both out. Love the group by the way, must admit I’m surprised in the few numbers, we will have to try and convert some of these western heathens.
-
the group is farly new so i will be looking forward to an increase in membership over the coming weeks…
to be completely honest the first “One Missed Call” is by far the best, but saying that i do have to admit that the second is pretty epic!!
-
Presumably they are known as One missed call 2+3 in their english titles???
-
Ichi. I noticed you listed “H” on your list. That was another I was unsure about
It would be definitely on my list as well. -
I loved H the only problem I had was i figured it out way too early but was still a great watch and i also got to lord it around the room when i was proven to be right  hehehe
-
the second is named “One Missed Call 2″ (shocking!) and the third is called “One Missed Call: Final”…
-
Hey guys. Just to aware you guys there’s a cool site I found that streams a lot of Asian horror
There’s so many on there I’m looking for recommendations for really good ones. So far the ones I have seen and enjoyed are: The Female Scorpion movies, Lady Snowblood, Tokyo Gore Police, Oldboy, and Versus. One I saw that I really hated was…[Read more]

it seems pretty cool, but i would reccomend sticking with the Japanese or Korean movies…

Yea, me too Ichi LOL,
Thanks for the cool site War Machine
-
Considering most people in this group presumably don’t mind subtitles i’m gonnna go of topic only ever so briefly just to make two recommendations that i’m sure you all will appreciate, The first is a Belgiun film called Switchblade romance (Haute Tension) and the second is a french film Inside (À l’intérieur) Both very gory and both very well…[Read more]
-
why even bring the topic up??? there is a group devoted to french horror on BD…
-
I wouldn’t say this movie is my favorite, but I still thought it was highly entertaining…
Has anyone else seen Tokyo Zombie?
-
no, but i have heard a lot about it and i am still kind of iffy about whether or not i should see it…is it any good?
-
It’s okay. Like I said definitely not a favorite, but worth a watch. Kind of weird a points and I guess it would be the most equivalent to Shaun of the Dead.
-
Ahh back again
. Maybe i got even thicker in while i was away but i cant trace back to what film Adiens thinks is like Shaun of the dead?? -
“Tokyo Zombie” was the movie…
-
Audition, Suicide Circle, One Missed Call, Dark Tales Of Japan Series And Hero!
Godzilla Also (I Liked Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla The Best & Then Godzilla Vs Mortha 2nd)
-
……….And Does New Police Story Count?
-
what new ‘police story’
-
No, The Name Itself Is ‘New Police Story’ Starring Jackie Chan!
-
hate to break it to you, but the movie isnt a horror film…so lets try to focus on Asian horror…
-
But It Has Some Bloody Scenes Also……
-
Ok, Tokyo Gore Police………….How About That Eh?
-
“Tokyo Gore Police” is more like it!! i liked it, but it certainly had some good parts and some bad parts though…
-
Yup! I Get Exactly What You Mean………
Question: Did You Thoroughly Enjoy It? As In Is It Like One Of Those Films Which Makes You Wanna Watch It Over And Over Again?
-
i dont know many films that i will watch over and over (i can only name 2), but if some people were watching it i wouldnt turn down an offer to watch it…
-
Sometimes I Do That………
-
Dumplings?
Never Heard Of It……
-
Finally got round to watching ‘Tale of two sisters’ i’m still trying to figure out the ending but for me thats part of the attraction of asian cinema. Im often left wondering was something lost in translation or is the director just fucking with me, either way im left with food for thought.
-
Its Time To Chew That….
-
Yeah the ending of Ju-on 2 left me just as bamboozled, hello and welcome by the way to any newcomers i havent said hi to yet im Ichi skin and id love to stab fuck and eat you all

-
Awesome cant wait to see it then, if i dont die from extreme horror i will let you all know what i thought of it
Oh also I have seen the grudge, but not the japanese version…i guess it would be a silly question to ask if it is better than the american one? lol considering it sucked!

And Hey Syrina, Dont Always Go To Wikipedia….Start Checking Movies In IMDB.Com Because Their Reviews Are More Professional And Accurate…..That Might Help You In Making The Right Choices!
And Dont Forget To Check Out The Stars Also!
-
And Syrina, By Spiral You Mean Uzumaki?
Then I’ve Seen That Film….
-
Hi UltimateNightmare i agree with your comment about IMDB and also use Rotten Tomatoes which has some very talented writers..Check them if you havnt allready!!
The minister -
Yes i mean Uzumaki
Alright i will go to IMBD next time.
What did you think of Uzumaki Nightmare?
-
Imdb is awesome
-
Minister: Thank You! And Yes, I Also Check Out Rotten Tomatoes And Metacritic…..Do You Know The Latter?
Syrina: Yes, Uzumaki Was A Very Weird And Dark Film! The Snail People Really Shook Me Up!
Midnite: Thnx!
-
lol yeah it was quite weird but i still thought it was pretty cool.
Hmm whats the most disturbing j-horror you guys have ever seen? something that made your toes curl and made you sick …just trying to make convo, lol. Only thing i could think of.
-
Syrina..I have to say “Audition” has had the best affect on my senses..the cheese cutter scene was astounding..and the person in the bag was insane..ha ha …
The Minister -
Haha yeah i was so tense that whole scene that when it was over my muscles were sore, lol.
I still have to say that 120 days of sodom is the most disturbing thing i have ever seen in general as a whole movie, however that scene in audition takes the cake for making me queasy, lol. That almost NEVER happens to me, i have a strong stomach but i…[Read more]

A Tale of Two Sisters has a sort of haunting beauty to it. Did it all really happen or was she just dreaming ?

@theminister, @syrina, For me in ‘Audition’ the puke bowl is what got me. I’m not squeamish in anyway, for some reason that made me cringe. There’s a rumor that it’s real, and not faked.

GRUDGE4life posted an update in the group Slasher Fans July 2, 2009 2:03 pm
We have the Machete, the claws, and the ordinary kitchen knife….but what is the best and most creative weapon ever used in a slasher film?
-
It’s a tough decision to pick one. Chainsaw’s pretty hardcore but I would also go for a lawnmower (Braindead), a Television (Scream) and Liquid Nitrogen (Jason X)!
-
cell phone down the throat (see no evil), garden shears (the burning) and the giant blender or whatever the hell it was that killed johnny depp in a nightmare on elm street
-
i love the cell phone death in “See No Evil”, but my favorite weapon, at least right now, has to be the meat cleaver from “Midnight Meat Train”……one hit kill!
-
the knitting needle in Idle Hands….loved it!
and of course the hooks in Hellreiser.
-
oops….Hellraiser**
-
MAchete and Chainsaw are the best for me.
-
you know bunny, i thought that you would have made a listof your top ten given you feelings about creative killings!
-
this is not a slasher film but one of the most brutal killings I have seen in a film lately is the ripping out of the throat in the newest(and best) Rambo!
-
lol, well i do have a few favs. but i just got done watching that movie and still after seeing that movie so many times it still makes me laugh.
another one tho, and mainly b/c of the Trans Am, but the best part in the Hitcher movie, where the hitcher takes out all the cops w/ that TA, w/ the NIN playing in the back ground, that scene…[Read more]

oh and would love to see “When Balloon Animals Attack” ;p
-
ok, if there was ever a balloon animal kill that would be my number one of all time just because of the ridiculousness of it in the first place!!!!!
………and yes, i am happy enough so that i can sleep tonight!
-
lol, balloon animals would be a great spoof movie…
-
For Me Its Michael Myers Hands When He Crushes Skulls
-
cant you see the balloon animal popping on someone and it is full of nails or sharp stuff and they get impailed?
-
thats a “clown” movie i would actually watch :S
-
AHA!!!! so we did find a clown movie that bunnyracer would watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! alert the presses everybody we have a breaking news story from “BloodyDisgusting.com”!!!!!
by the Path01, a weapon is defined as “any instrument or device for use in attack or defense in combat, fighting, or war, as a sword, rifle, or cannon” so the whole…[Read more]
-
HAHAHA!!!!! that second one is hilarious……….i might have to check that movie out!
……and i do like that saw part in “Frontiere(s)” the best out of that whole movie!!!
-
yes, but only if it had killer balloon animals ;p
-
i dont think the french have caught onto the killer balloon animal idea yet…..that would be sick if they did though….”Inside”, but balloon animals instead?
-
I know it’s not quite a horror film but I like the kill from Toxic Avenger where Toxie uses the weights to take the guy’s head off!
-
big ass drill ( slumber party massacre ) and gas powered belt sander ( hatchet )
-
now the “Black Knight” movie was a disappointment and not a horror movie, but the pencil scene was the best part! made me smile. although the movie mad me mad.
-
what if some killer used a pencil as thier main weapon??? would that be impressive or what?
-
like a school teacher masscre. didnt they use a pen in faculty?? stabbed the monster in the eye?
-
im talking about a killer that only uses that weapon exclusively because they were laughed at for not having a sharp enough pencil…..or something like that…………or even a teacher who takes out kids who are problem students to keep her class averages up……..
-
I loved the meat cleaver Horney The Clown used in Drive-Thru. But the best weapon is the chainsaw.
-
hmmm…dont think that movie would be too terrifying.
-
i know, but it was just a thought though……..the meat clever in “Drive Thru” was sick and custom made for a scary as shit dead clown!!!!
-
clowns….uh
-
ok, if you saw a clown chasing you with a meat clever wouldnt you be scared shitless??? have you even seen “Drive Thru”?
-
no, clown are so cliché.
-
im telling you bunny, clown horror movies are big sellers and they would work given all the ideas have not been used yet!!!
-
*cross arms and shakes head* no sir, not buyin it ;p
-
i dont care if you buy it or not…….i just want you to watch a clown horror film and tell me that you dont like it…..thats all
-
CHAINSAW!!!!!!!!
-
is that really the most creative weapon you have ever seen used???? its the same kill over and over again!!!!
-
Hmm HAs anyone seen Happy Birthday to me- The scene with the shis-ka-bob. I think I misspelt that but that or the scene in The Town That Dreaded Sundown- Whee the killer has this girl tied to a tree anduses her trombone to kill her with. He ties a knife to the end of it and attempts to play it stabbing her over and over again as he pushes the trombone out.
-

-
i saw “IT”, and didnt like it, booooorrriiinnngggg. the only clown i like is Captain Spalding ;p
-
The thing about clowns is some people find them scary and others absolutely don’t. So films with clowns will always have people who love them and people who just can’t get over the fact that a clown is the killer. I personally, don’t care for clowns in horror. I do agree with BunnyRacer, Captain Spalding is awesome. I think it’s because he’s not…[Read more]
-
Finally someone who understands! lol
-
actually Captain Spaulding is trying to be funny……but not even a good attempt at a serious clown comparison…..
by the “IT” was not a clown to begin with…..im talking about a movie like “Drive Thur” or “Fear of clowns” that has a true clown killer…..
-
but clowns arnt scary, why would i watch a “horror” movie that isnt scary, or at least funny/scary? hmmmmm?
-
a horror film is called a horror film because it is horrific…..not because it is scary per say (definitly not because it is funny either), but because the content in the movie is in one of many ways disturbing, revolting, or “wrong” on some level…..a clown is horrific because it is a brightly colored person used to cheer up or enlighten the…[Read more]

oh the old acid instead of moonshine trick…..gets those college kids every time doesnt it!!!!
what if there was a Ronald McDonald horror film????? would that not be sweet????
-
how about he uses calories to slowly rot out your heart???? oh wait, he is already doing that!!!!! he should use a small replica of the golden arches…….why would the Humburglar and the purple monster be involved????
-
And He’d also carry around his murderous weapons in a happy meal box!
-
OMG….a Ronald McDonald clown walking away from a surprisingly empty McDonalds with a happy meal box in hand that is dripping blood out of the bottom corner!!! i have always wondered why they never use the same kids in the McDonalds comercials……
-
I could see all the characters from McDonalds being a group of killers. That would be too cool. Now, I know this isn’t really horror but, in Scary Movie, when they used a dick as a weapon was pretty outrageous. I know the character didn’t die but it was still crazy.
-
Have u ever heard of the band Circus of Dead Squirrels?? they have a song about that…and one about killing elmo too!
-
so are we all agreed then that killing someone with a penis/dildo is a funny and still a worth while death???? because come on…. how embarrasing is it to be killed by a penis/dildo????
-
cause of death….dildo to the face…..imagine the news conference after that and the poor person trying to explain that on live news…..worst job ever!!!!
-
The meat cleaver in Midnight meat train is awesome…. He just whacks him in the head and his eye pops out. AMAZING!!!
-
What about a Ronald McDonald using a dildo as a weapon????? would that not be sweet?
-
And one of the twists in the Ronald McDonald movie is that they use human remains to make the Big Mac Secret Sauce!
-
i knew the big mac had a secret secret sauce!!!! you know, if Ronald McDonald started to chase me with a dildo i would probably be the first to die…..mostly because i would be on the ground laughing for half an hour!!!!
-
so thats what happened to the rest of his gang of freaks!!!! now that we know Ronald McDonald is a serial killer…..there just needs to be a movie made about his life story!!!
-
omg…the clown butcher??? now that would be a seriously screwed up killer with a horrifying story of a past!!! who only goes after clowns really???
-
see, i could go for a movie like that…
-
that sounds fucking amazing!!!!!! all we have to do now is get Universal on the phone…..screw Universal lets get Warner Brothers!!! they would fund something crazy like that!!!!
-
no, no, lion’s gate!!!
-
why would the holiest of holy’s, Lionsgate, be interested in making a clown movie???
-
a child that kills clowns…..sounds like something they’d be into….
-
Clown unions would go crazy and want to boycott this movie. They know they scare people. They wouldn’t want them getting any ideas. That would be pretty good publicity.
-
are you kidding me??? fuck the clowns’ unions!!!!!! all that matters would be i can go to a theatre and see either a clown killer, or a bunch of clowns get killed…..if and when that happens i dont care whose size 25 shoes have to be stepped on for that to happen!!!
-
sooo hostile w/ your excessive use of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
i think it would be more fitting if the clowns were in a Saw trap sort of like that of the second…..because come on who doesnt want to see a clown be burned to death????
-
Jeff Foxworthy should host it too!!!!! or is the clown smarter than a fifth grader???
-
“Oh man!! did you see that clown get raped last night???” “ya dude, then when he was torn to shreds by the big blender was awesome!!! “
-
well….laugh???? my reation would be more of a OOOOOOOOOOHH!!!!!!! SHIT THAT WAS TIGHT YO!!!!!!
-
we should bring in people dressed up as 80′s horror icons to chase them around and eventually drop the hammer as well!!!!
-
ok, if that happened i would laugh your ass off, but why supply a mini bike when we can give them a unicycle instead???
-
ew! i have another one to add to my fav. list of murder weapons! (watched Chucky 2 last night) The air pump he used to kill the teacher with
i had a good laugh at her expense -
you would think that since Chucky is a kids doll he would use childrens toys to kill people…..
-
but see chucky uses a variety of weapons on people. he’s used alot of toys, knife, air pump, windows (gravity), he’s just a resoursful type a guy (doll)
-
he does have to be reourceful given his size and lack of any muscles known to man…….now a stuffed animal kill would be sweet!!!!
-
They did a “stuffed animal kill” on nip/tuck! lol it was awesome! the lady took this guy..stuffed him like a teddy bear, then sowed him together and put little plastic eyes where his eyes where! it was awesome (very creative for a tv show!)
-
did they ever use a curling iron that would be cool
-
wanting to say i’ve seen a movie where they raped a chick w/ a hot curling iron…..mybe i read about it or something, but it sounds familiar…..
-
If I remember correctly I think a girl gets killed with a curling iron in Sleepaway Camp.
-
i thought that they also tried that in “Return to Sleepaway Camp” as well, but i could be mixing that up with the first one though……bunny, are you sure that didnt happen to you???
-
Yeah, Girl Next Door was super depressing. Curling irons are rarely used for killings. It should be used more often. Maybe to kill a pimp and screw up his perm! That would be ironic.
-
that is terrible to say Grudge! and no it didnt happen to me, but i probly read it in the news.
Girl Next door was pretty brutal. I hate the little boy in the movie b/c he could have stopped it all!
-
death by baby powder??? that sounds like a good way to dispatch people quietly….
-
or in a fresh open wound…..as long as there is some sort of water so my throat isnt dry them i am good…..
-
once again cuber sarcism is lost on you Jae…….but that would be cool if they dangled the the water in front of you in some sort of sick torture pleasure!!!
-
CHAINSAW all the way!!:chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw:
-
your stupid messages are killing me right now eddiefin!!!!
-
friday the 13 part 7 the sleeping bag scene,in the unrated version this kill part goes on for a little longer witch see the the master batter her about six times with bone crunhing fx. also in part 3 he use’s the kitchen knife under the hamock, savageing poor girls thaort…DAM.
-
Giant industrial drill! Jason X
-
Freddy’s knives glove. It’s something he made himself and more deadlier. You can find a machete, butcher’s knife and chainsaw anywhere.
-
how is that deadlier???
-
I’m a fan of Krueger’s glove myself.
A few other memorable ones for me is in Dead Alive.. usuing the lawn mower.
Ash modifying a chainsaw hand in Army of Darkness.. -
sauna rock in the final friday!
-
The gas powered belt sander in Hatchet
-
always will be a classic……
-
a tv in scream/anoes 3
-
“Don’t sit too close to the TV billy!”
-
also the chainsaw/stake hybrid in from dusk till dawn.
-
A CAR-in H2 (2009) myers kills the guy by putting him through the windshield & rolling the car down the hill effectively rolling over him-that’s original !!
-
and lame!!!!
-
heh ! self-importance.
-
Alan here, firend of ezesosa
i’d say the chainsaw definitely, it’s really agressive, only the nosie of it is frightening hehe
-
so then how does alan feel about the kitchen knife???
-
a classic
-
After watching Street trash I thought I should mention decapitation by gas cylinder.
-
oh please…..that has its limits
-
….I still think it’s worth a mention. I know it isn’t from a slasher film but it’s still quite original.
-
I like the combination cork-screw and meat cleaver used on Crispin Glover in F13 : The Final Chapter with the fencing blade attached to the football death in the largely forgettable Graduation Day running a close second.
-
el terror: I just think that the trash cover does not stand up, and i also believe that you know that as well…
-
…I think that the decapitation by gas cylinder in Street Trash was a great kill and I stand by my previous post…
-
I just thought about it before I saw your post hah…honestly the movie sucked but the killer was kinda dangerous lol…still machete is the best choice 4 me
-
I kind of liked “Midnight Movie”… it had an eerie confused sense to it….but that weapon was nasty…when he pulled out that guy’s heart the whole room erupted…pandemonium i tell you!!!
-
The Banjo From Zombieland
-
the banjo was sick and it surprisingly enough it worked!!! 2x the fun!!! but is the axe the best weapon ever used???
-
It is one of the most common
-
it is very common and it is not the best ever….not even close
-
yeah definatly not the axe but even though Midnight Movie wasn’t anything special the wepon thing was cool
-
definitely, but the movie was not good enough to give the weapon the showing it deserved…
-
I liked the chainsaw the best:) but it would run put of gas which is the bad part about it:(
-
you could still use the chainsaw when it ran out of gas, but then it would be a huge knife…
-
have you people actually used a chainsaw?
-
ya, if someone was strong enough they could use a chainsaw as a stabbing weapon…also given that the chainsaw wasnt huge like in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”
-
I Would Have To Say Chainsaw!
And Maybe Freddy’s Claws
How About The Bulb In Halloween: H20?
-
or maybe the machete in fridaythe 13th:)
-
you would have to be be one strong bad ass motherfucker to stab someone with a chainsaw
-
that is very true…good thing leatherface is a strong bad ass mother fucker to begin with…
-
ha, how true

that wasnt on nip/tuck, it wass tales from the crypt , bunny, plus, this isnt really a kill, but the trees from evil dead (number 1)

How About The Priest Kill In Sin City……..Mickey Rourke Really Proved That Hands Are Enough
-
you know what was a great kill, that part inSilent Hill when the girl uses barbed wire to rip this chick and half, that was awesome
-
oh yeah, that was great
-
“Silent Hill” is full of amazing kills like that…wonderful movie!!!
-
or just Pyramid Heads hand like when he ripped that chicks tits off, and everytnig else
-
Oh Yea! Red Pyramid Was Freakin’ Awesome! Dude, He Skins Her Alive For Crying Out Loud! Amazing Film!
How About The Truly Sad Killing Of The Female Police Officer? They Burn Her Alive!
-
that was pretty gruesome
-
I Know…..Hahahaha ‘Burn The Witch! Burn The Witch!’……..I Would Have Just Walked Out!
The Thing Is That Most People Are Forced To Tone Down Some Of Their Ideas Since It Conflicts With The Censorship People!
UP YOURS FAGGOTS!
-
what do you mean ‘just walked out’??? from the police officers point of view or yours???
-
From The Police Officer’s Point! I Would Rather Be Skinned Alive By Red Pyramid Rather Than Be Burned Alive!
How About The Nurses? They Could Be Deadly You Know…….
-
i dont think the officer had a choice either way…i wish we could have seen the killing power of the nurses though. very creepy and a very good creature!
-
Yea, They Looked Creepy Allright! Actually The Film Version Kinda Made Them Comical! The Game Has Them More Deadly (And Curvacious)
-
the film version never gave us a chance to see the true killing power the nurses possessed…that is very sad to
-
i know, they just end up killing each other by accident
-
Yea! Like I Said The Director Made Them Too Comical
But HEY! The Film Itself Was Great…….
-
“Silent Hill” is one of the best creature features ever made!! although i have heard some disgust from those who play the video game that the movie does not do the game justice…is that true??
-
Yup, I’m A True Game Fan!
The Problem Is That Many People Cannot Bring The Spark To The Silverscreen! It Was Good But Not As Great As The Game!
The Only Film I Know Which Really Fucked Up The (Literally) Whole Franchise Was: Resident Evil Extinction! The Original, 2nd Instalment And The Animated Were Great!
-
i totally agree man
-
Yea!
Anyone Will See Piranha 3D? Cuz Its Gonna Appear In The Cinemas Here…….I’m Gonna Watch!
-
i have a do not see movies in the theatre policy…then how excited are you for the new “Resident Evil: Afterlife” movie???
-
Dude, Waaaaay Excited!
Cuz After Extinction, They Released Degeneration And I LOVED That! So Theres Still Hope That Afterlife Could Be Good….. And It Also Has Wentworth Miller! Yahoo…..
-
And Theatre Policy? What Do You Mean By That?
-
it means he doesnt like to go see to the theatres to see movies, and i only liked resident evil: apocalypse.
-
Apocalypse Was Good But The Original Was Brilliant!
Seen The Animated One?
-
i think Apocalypse was good up until you see Nemesis…i havent seen the animated movie, but doesnt that have nothing to do with the movie series with Milla Jovovich???
-
ive never seen either, but what was wrong with nemesis? i think they pulled him off pretty well
-
No EVIL! The Description Of Nemesis On The Silver Screen Was Too Pathetic! I Mean, I Enjoyed The Film But Nemesis Was Crap! The Game Version Is HELL-LOT BETTER!
And GRUDGE: No, The Animted Series Is The Only ‘Resident Evil’ Film That Happens Inside The RE Universe And Nothing To Do With Milla! Its Worth The Watch! I Think Its The Sequel To…[Read more]

I Agree On The Latter Part!
GRUDGE Do Me A Favour And Watch The Animated And Then Tell Me Whether Its Good Or Not!
Anyhow, Its Not That I Totally Hated Extinction! Sure, It Totally Fucked Up The Whole Thing But Nevertheless I Found It Entertaining! And I Admit Its Not As Memorable As The Other RE Films!
So, I Will Watch Afterlife…..
-
ok, i just wanted to know how you tied in the animated movie with the hollywood movies…but question answered…
i know people at school who have it so i will try and sneak away and watch it sometime in the next couple of months…
NEW SUBJECT!!!
how excited are you guys for the “I Spit On Your Grave” remake to come out??? -
it looks pretty cool
-
I Have Seen The Original………..So I Will Just Have To Shrug My Shoulders For This!
-
once again someone who likes the original isnt excited for what looks to be a good remake…shocking!!!
-
There Are Some Films Which Are Best Left Alone!
-
ive seen the original, but the new one looks kinda cool
-
I’ve heard the remake is pretty good. Full of shocks and gore.
I like the original but it felt as if it had been filmed in a couple of days!
It was pretty shocking and the bath scene made my eyes water but it’s one of those films that I don’t mind being remade. Quite looking forward to the remake but not majorly excited. -
What If The Remake Turns Out To Be Useless………….Then?
-
…Then I won’t be too bothered. I’m used to remakes turning out bad these days. I’ll just be sorry that I wasted my money on watching it in the cinema but I’ll get over it!
-
Oh Boy El Terror………I Was Gonna Do Exactly The Same Thing!
-
nightmare, does it really mean that much to you when a movie you like is remade
which films are best left alone???
-
i think they shouldve left friday alone, but the hellraisers cannot be touched
-
See? EVIL Is Right……Hellraiser!
Films From The 50′s Techincally GRUDGE!
-
the “Hellraiser” movies should and will be remade eventually…its only a matter of time really…
how can a movie be ‘technically’ from a decade?? it either is or it isnt…
-
if its made in one decade, abd released in the next (like its filmed in 1998-1999, and released somewhere in the 2000s)
-
I Know……….
Boy, You Really Love Remakes Dont You GRUDGE?
-
eviltbot: thats not how it works…if it is made in the 90′s then the movie is from the 90′s no matter when it is released…
i like remakes, but i just think that some movie series need to be remade to help cement their legacy in horror history…plus, i would like to see some new version of some older horror films!
-
Yes, But Sometimes The Remakes Completely Destroy The So-Called Legacy And The Original Fades Away Into Obscurity!
The Crew Should Only Remake Unless & Until They Are Firmly Sure That They Have A Good Concept In Mind!
Many People Just Recklessly Rush In! Maybe You Didnt See The TCM Interview!
-
you know, i agree with the both of you
-
which remakes destroyed the legacy of the original??
how many remakes are there out there where people recklessly rushed in???
-
nightmare on elm street, kind of friday the 13th (not really), kind of halloween (the least of all three)
-
EVIL Proved My Point…….
-
which question are you answering eviltbot???
-
yours grudge
-
i asked two questions…which one did you answer???
-
both of them
-
Anyways, Some Remakes Turn Out To Be Good!
While Some Are Painful To Watch….
-
friday and halloween were too bad
-
i liked the “halloween” remake better then the original…and the “Friday the 13th” remake was pretty sweet…
-
Halloween Remake Was Sexy……
-
Halloween II………Sorry!
-
i havent seen the new halloween II
-
Its Great…….By Far The Best Work Of RZ, If You Ask Me!
-
i hope your kidding! that movie was good for the first five minutes, but then RZ went all crazy and screwed it up with the whole white horse nonsense…
-
I loved the scene from Inside where she kills the person with a knitting needle. Scissors are also good as well.
-
The Chucky films. Toy dolls killing people.
-
The fire extinguisher in Irreversible where he smashes the blokes face to a pulp after the bloke had raped his mates wife
-
Nah Mate………Chucky Films Aint Good! They Were Totally Useless
-
they were good
-
Apart From The First……
Thats The One Where He Kills With That Miniature Axe Yea?
-
i guess
-
Never Heard Of It……..
-
oh yeah, that was pretty good
-
Nice Choice….
-
momento was cool
-
oh god! i hate that kind of stuff, but i’ll still check it out. plus, im french, so ill understand
-
Hey Cool, Can You Post Ur Opinion On The Last Exorcism On This Thread After When You Watch It?
And I Might Go Today Or Maybe Tomorrow To Watch Piranha 3D…I Know Its Kinda Late!

i heard last exorcism sucks, but i did see the new resident evil though
-
You Saw Afterlife?
How Was It?
-
it was great man, best 3-D effects ive ever seen too

yeah man, definitely go check it out

GRUDGE4life posted an update in the group Group For Fans of French Horror Films July 1, 2009 5:16 pm
In an all out battle between the two giants of horror…….who eventually wins bragging rights?:lightsab:
-
what about the Texas Chainsaw movies?
-
True, those films really try to mess with the way you view humanity and your morals. Most American horror films today try to sell you on good looks and gore, not the stories. The Texas Chainsaw movies are a good case to argue though. Rob Zombie’s movies are good evidence also. The ones about the Firefly clan, not his remakes on Halloween. The…[Read more]

it comes down to one vs. one battles i think…..we have
“Inside” vs. “Texac Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning”
“High Tension” vs. “Saw”
“Martys” vs. ? (help me out if you can)
“Frontiere(s)” vs. “The Hills Have Eyes”
“Sheitan” vs. “The Shining” (anything better?)
“Calvaire” vs. “Hostel”
“Them (ils)” vs. “Children of the Corn”
…..and the…[Read more] -
today, French wins hands down. BUT, America has had some great recents- Hills Have Eyes, The Strangers, Hostel, Rob Zombie’s movies, Hatchet, Feast, SAW.
Back in the 70s and 80s, you had some of the classics- The Shining, Freddy, Michael, Jason, Pinhead, Leatherface. -
i dont think they win hands down…..hell! i think it is closer than most people think it is!!! yes, the French have come out with a lot of A+ material, but so have we along with our B– crap as well…..if you dig through the crap you will be able to find movies that do compare with the French’s!!!
…..we do have a lot of movies that are…[Read more]

so your saying that you did not like “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon”? i think that the french come out with something amazing every once in a while, and you know what so do us Americans…..look at the recent movies to come out and look at my comparison…..ya, the overall quality is better than most of our movies, but the ones that…[Read more]

Leslie Vernon would be one of those “diamonds” you mentioned. and i think that Clive Barker’s stories could also fit that category, along with Midnight Movie. i just feel the French have done more better as of late. -
thank you for at least trying to see both sides…….i think there are other diamonds in the rough as well…..like “Darkness Falls”, “Insanitarium”, and “Black X-mas” are a few that are looked over that i think are amazing movies…..
-
Darkness Falls was a very pleasant surprise. (wouldnt it be cool to see Guillermo del Toro do that?) Unfortunately, i have not yet seen the other two. i think though, that insanitarium is in the netflix queue. Black Christmas? as in the movie that got remade a couple years back? which one is better, redo or original?
-
i think the remake is better, but i am a kid who thinks old movies, as good in thier time as they were, are not as good as the remakes that come out…….OMG!!!! if GdT did “Darkness Falls” then that movie would have been top 5 for life movie right there!!!!
-
a lot of remakes (not just horror) are, i believe better than the original. if for no other reason, because there is more story put into it. on the other hand, without the original, we would have never had a kick ass redo.
-
Lately America has relied on foreign horror for material (think Asian horror). However we do have the ”Iconic” horror films. The reason may be that everyone in Hollywood is looking for profit, not originality. Many of the recent french horror films have been risky and original. Though they are brutal films to watch, they are usually more…[Read more]
-
they dont have the restrictions we do…..i think some American film makers are scared to do stuff that is gory and way out of the limits (Rob Zombie)……they are more concerned about making money than an amazing horror film…..
-
Yeah, historically the French have been more relaxed with their restrictions on film.
-
maybe we should start doing the same…..because we are struggling to compete (which we are) with foreign nations in horror and ice hockey!!!!
-
it is really amusing this discussion.
We, in France, classify américan horror movies largely in front of French films and you, in the USA, prefer French movies instead of American movies. For example, “Martyrs” (whom I venerate for my part) or “Frontieres” were done very badly criticized by the fans and the press. On this forum, you love…[Read more]

thats actually very interesting…..i could see why they get bad ratings and why they like our movies better, but “Frontiere(s)” was something like that of American just with a better storyline and gore….that surprises me a bit….

well, i believe that the french have better horror films more recently myself. i mean look at inside compared to saw (whatever the hell number they are up to now). i mean that films is beautiful and savage at the same time. but, like grudge said sometimes we do have surprises like hatchet. i’m not gonna say any of the remakes because personally…[Read more]

I have to agree. In the last few years, the French have been kicking our Red, White and Blue asses. I too am waiting for La Horde, although I have heard mixed reviews. Like Mutants, Zombie films are a tough genre now, regardless of which country produces them. At least Zombieland added a humoristic twist recently – score one for the USofA

French. American movies are all the same movie now days. Oh look… a retarded hillbilly with a knife or Oh look… another shitty remake. Its getting real lame real fucking fast!

GRUDGE4life posted an update in the group ZOMBIE,ZOMBIES,AND MORE ZOMBIES!! June 27, 2009 9:24 am
I know that we all love the classic Romero (god) films, but what about the ones from this decade?
-
Diary is a good metaphor, but it lacks the Romero quality at some points. Shaun of the Dead and Planet Terror are great “homages” to Zombies. But for me, [REC] is still the best!
-
i dont know about that…..”Quarentine” was good, but unless if the spanish version is that much better than i have to say “Diary of the Dead” takes the cake for me between the two!
-
From what I’ve heard, Quarentine it’s awfull, a cheesy version of REC. Diary has some good scenes, like the one with the amish old man, but…I don’t know, kinda felt weird, not in a good way, when it ended. Something was missing. REC leaves you with a bitter taste in your mouth. It’s so real, specially for me, because I’m portuguese and we have…[Read more]
-
darn you!!!! when “REC 2″ comes out you have to tell us how good it is…..have you seen the movie “Insanitarium”?
-
I have to say it is a choice between the Dawn of the Dead remake and Resident Evil both are very entertaining films but in the long fight Dawn of the Dead is the winner for me.
-
Dance of the Dead was pretty cool for a low budget indie. [REC] is the best in my opinion. I do ,however, agree with Philogelos on the ending. That did kind of make me feel terrible inside. As for you being so close to Spain, I think that would add to the effect. Halloween is based in my home state of Illinois. Sure, the town’s fake but it’s still…[Read more]

“Dance of the Dead” i think tried a little to hard on the comedy side sometimes…..if they would have had more zombie and less comedy then they would have had something going there, but they didnt and they dont…..my top five have to be
1. “Insanitarium” sweet ass movie!
2. “28 Weeks Later” sequel better be good!
3. “[REC]” the original…[Read more] -
i liked “insanitanrium”! very good movie.
I liked “the rage”, mainly b/c my fav. band was in it, wish it had better actors tho.
Loved Doomsday (even tho there’s not to many zombies) im a sucker for a mohawk ;p;)
l loved the “28″ movies
Loved Planet Terror! zombie, rose mcgowan as a stripper, dont get much better than that ;p -
i dont know about “the Rage” or “Doomsday”, but “Planet Terror” is a sweet movie!
-
most people dont like em, but i have my reasons for liking em.
planet terror was awsome, the guy that carries around a jar of balls…very creative ;p who does that
-
probably people who have something mentally wrong with them, but im not here to judge!!!
-
yes, but makes for a humorus part in that movie
-
we dont need humor in a zombie movie….that takes people out of it, and is a big reason why zombie movies are not as big as they should be…..it is easier to make fun of zombies than it is to make a serious zombie movie!!!
-
Automaton Transfusion ruled! There’s a scene involving a baby that I have never seen before. Good call Jae!
-
ya its good, but it is horribly made…..i like certain scenes of that movie, but when you try to make a zombie movie in three days then there are going to be a lot of mistakes…….and there were!!! i cant wait for a sequel, but i hope they take thier time and spend some more money on the next one!
-
Ihated..Hated Automatic Transfusion. There are so many parts in that movie go beyond stupidity. Its my most hated zombie film, but i gotta give credit to a bunch of guys that got a movie out on DVD. The three all time worst zombie films for me are Automatic Transfusion, Undead, and Zombie Lake(I swear you’ll want to die after watching this piece…[Read more]

beer is either full or empty those are the only two ways!

I am getting a little too sick of cheap and stupid ZOM films to tell the truth small and micro budget films can be good and well written and acted if the crew and cast have the drive too make something to be proud of instead of making crap to get a fast buck.
-
this is why we need Romero (god) to make a comeback……we also need big labels to give directors a fair chance and hope that something good comes out of the process!!!!
-
maybe Rob Zombie should make a real “Zombie” film.
-
that would be sick….and maybe good enough to make other directors interested in making zombie films too???
-
Never seen any of the 28s…but I’m really looking forward! Dawn of the Dead is also a great movie. It’s amazing the pregnant zombie and her little baby…so sweet=P
-
by far the best scene in any zombie film i have ever seen has to be the zombie birth………but you need to see the 28 _____ Later movies…..it is definitely worth it!!!!
-
Recently I really enjoyed Diary of the Dead & Fido, an older one that most might not have seen is “The Dead Hate the Living”, dtv budget but really entertaining & a lot of references. I’m really looking forward to Romero’s next “…of the Dead” & Zombieland looks pretty damn good!
-
:O how have u not seen the 28 later movies???? wow, not even one of em?
-
i have a feeling that when either “…of the Dead” or “Zombieland” come out this discussion will be talking about nothing other than those movies!!!!
-
I’ll explain: here in portugal not all american movies go through the cinemas, heading straight to dvd. That, as you may wonder, happens a lot with horror movies. I haven’t seen any of 28…later because the only one I’ve ever seen because the only one I found on DVD was 28 weeks later, and I would like to see them in order.
So you can have a…[Read more] -

I remembered also a great undead spanish TV movie, Cuento de Navidad from Paco Plaza, one of the genius being REC. A great and funny movie! -
u can watch em online with out downloading……no excuses![Read more]

I’m pro paying to watch films.

to tell the truth i would rather pay for a movie then watch it free online….because all that work and effort put into making the movie is discounted by people not paying to see it………..but on the other hand if i cannot find the movie on Amazon or at Walmart then that is my next best option…..
-
that’s true, also. But there is no movie I haven’t found in Amazon. And yeah! I like to give money and to help the movie industry, that, for instance in Portugal is very poor
-
i’m all about buying the movie as well, but i’m also one for watching the movie before i buy it. I hate seeing a movie getting all hyped up and buy it/go to theater**, and it sux! So if its worth buying, i do, but if its not then i shall no waste my money….

Yea I totally agree with you, hate the theater, hate the crowds, shitty seats, prices. Besides I didn’t turn my living room into a entertainment room for no reason, better picture & sound at home anyway.
-
“I want to buy the movie, I want it on my shelf, w/box art, special features the whole deal!”
so do i, if its worth it. There are so many movies i’m glad i “previewed” first.
-
i could care less about previewing…..i buy horror films if i think they are good….if that is not the case then i keep them anyway because i am trying to build a collection….
-
Agreed with GRUDGE. obviously, if I preview it, great! If not, a bad movie is always good to laugh at=P And they are great, if you wish do make movies(I do!), showing how not to do it!
-
And besides, I love watching movies without knowing anything about them. When they’re a good surprise…it’s priceless!
-
well to each his own….
-
…and to the winner goes the spoils???
-
I kind of like laughs with my scares, so Shaun and Fido for me.
-
ok…i do have to admit that “Fido” was kind of an ok horror/comedy, but i didint like it though…..the little boy and the zombie vs. the world seems kind of gay to me…..im just saying!!!
-
“I Am Legend”, shit I just love a good zombie flick, not hard to please there!
-
“I Am Legend” is not that good of a zombie movie at all actually……
-
I am Legend was better than i though, being a Will Smith/main stream movie, but still not good…….
-
they killed the dog……they ruined it for me right there……
-
that*^
-
when they killed the Dog that was really messed up it made me so angry that I almost turned off the film. But it just goes too show that a good Dog is better than 80% of the humans in this world.
-
it is a movie people…..killing the dog i thought was a good part of it…..mans best friend saved his life to risk his own……he could have just as easily ran away and saved his own fur!!!!!!! but he didnt…..
-
The dog died because the character was a moron! but at least he died at the end saving another moron.
-
oh yeah, because my first thought in a zombie apocalypse is to look for traps that the zombie put down in the middle of the night…..just face it, the dog died!!! at least it was in a better way than it just being brutally killed because the dog ran into the building…..like the beginning of the movie!!!! it should have died then…..
-
Fact is the dog died, get over it. I love animals but I got over the dogs death soon after it happened. Why, because though it was a likable character, it wasn’t a central character. Anyways, 28 Days Later was a great zombie film. It was original and new. Remember seeing fast zombies for the first time! It was great.
-
what about the dog in “Planet Terror”?????? that dog ate it hard, but i dont see anyone complaining about that one……i remember seeing “28 Days Later” for the first time……i was terrified when i first saw them there zombies run……
-
Shaun of the Dead is going to be a classic. Hilarious, brilliant film.
Dead Snow is a gory, rip-roaring good time too
-
“Shaun of the Dead” is more of a comedy than it is a horror film, and not as recent as you thin it is!!! what has come out in the past 2-3 years that is your favorite???
-
More comedy or horror, it’s still a zombie flick.
I do know how recent it is, I guess I consider 2004 still kind of recent. But I can pick more recent stuff, like…- , 2009 (which I already siad, great flick, though it has some comedy in it so you may not like it)
- , 2006 (again lots of comedy)
- , 2006

Yeah opinions for are pretty polarized.

ya, the one that was done by Ghost House Pictures and has the Lionsgate seal of approval on the side!!!
dont get me wrong….i like the POV movies and think they are underrated, but that movie just had no meat to it…it was all drama and no zombie if you know what i mean!!!
-
How much gore does “Dead Snow” have? Could somebody please name a zombie movie with the same amount of blood, etc., so that I have a better idea.
-
Can’t really compare it to another movie off the top of my head, as far as gore quantity goes. The humor is a little dark and twisted though. One scene that sticks out in my mind is a human is using a zombie’s intenstines as a rope, dangling off a cliff.
-
that sounds kind of funny, but what else is he supposed to do??? jump off the cliff without a makeshift rope???
-
Does the cameraman linger over the gore effects or there are alot of quick-cuts in “Dead Snow”?
-
i havent seen it either…..im just hoping they release it here sometime soon before i am driven crazy by all this talk about it!!!
-
I just looked on amazon.co.uk and it says that “Dead Snow” will be released on 31 August 2009. For some reason I can

just imagine that by this time next year it will be released in th US and UK…..

I watched , a new zombie movie from Brazil, the other day, and it was awwwwwesome. Lots of over-the-top gore, with each bloody gag outdoing the last. It’s set in a swamp and every inch of the movie is soaked with sweat, blood, swamp-water, and of course a shitload of mud.
With the plot and silly-ish gore, it reminded me of .
Not out on DVD yet…[Read more] -
sounds good, but what kind of zombies are they to begin with???
-
They’re rather slow, until they see a human, then they turn into pretty fast, furious zombies, like in .[Read more]
-
now that sounds like a good movie…..if they were slow then that would be ruined by the whole mud thing…
-
I’ve seen it yesterday and, although it’s not a favourite, it’s an amazing movie. Deadgirl. So fricking disturbing!
-
I would have to pick the movie Brain Dead from the director Kevin Tenney, who also did Night of the Demons, Witchboard, etc. Not the most original story, but a few good gore effects, so that made me pretty happy.
-
1. REC
2. 28 days later
3. Dawn of the Dead (remake)
4. Deadgirl
5. Dead and Breakfast -
Hands down Return of the Living Dead.
-
I luuuurve 28 days later…but I have a big soft spot for the humour of Shaun of the Dead

Dead Snow and Zombieland!!!!!!!! two kickass zombie flicks that are pretty recent.

Planet Terror And 28 Weeks/Days Later………..

i would have to say “Pontypool”…
-
Pontypool Is Cool GRUDGE4life……….. Thats Canadian Right?
Anyways, I Like German, Italian And Austrailian Horror Films The BEST!
How About Children Of The Living Dead & Dead Snow?
And Does Hills Have Eyes Count?
-
The “Hills have Eyes” does not count…at least not to me because i classify it as a creature feature (example: vampires, sub-human creature, and exorcism movies)….yes, it is canadian, and they found a new way to spread the virus!!!
“Dead Snow” was alright, but i am not a big fan of trying to hard to add in humor into zombie movies…it is…[Read more]

“Dance of the Dead” had nothing to do with a circus…”Insanitarium” is a sick nasty movie!! that movie blew my mind wide open when i watched it for the first time!!!

Then I Must Have Seen Another Film…….My Bad!
And Yes! I Agree With Your Chosen Words ‘Sick’ & ‘Nasty’ There! I Watched That Film For The First Time At Like 3AM……….How Cool Is That Eh?

stop trolling horrorfan!!! “The Crazies” was a pretty descent movie, but it seemed to fall apart at the end though…did anyone else think that??

You Could Be Right There GRUDGE4life…………But Anyways, Hell Of A Movie!
-
grr the crazies is the best zombie movie ever:)
-
Certainly NOT THE BEST ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER…………..But Anyways One Of Them!
-
i wouldnt even go that far…its a good movie no doubt about that, but it is not even top ten for me…sorry horrorfan, but i do not see your fascination with this movie…
-
Agreed!
-
recent GOOD zombie movie’s i’ve seen:
1. Pontypool
2. La Horde (The Horde in French, subtitles but very good)
3. ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction (it was more funny, but still good and gorey)
4. Deadgirl -
pho: i am inpressed by the variety in that list, but i would also want to say that “Deadgirl” was better then “ZMD”
-
Shaun Of The Dead
Zombieland
28 Days Later -
Zombieland Was Just Ok, Despite The Name, The Zombies Appear Only In The Starting And Near The Ending!
-
i’m pretty sure the name doesnt literaly mean ‘land full of zombies’ nightmare…i think it is more of the world being turned into a theme park where the theme is a zombie apocolypse…
-
Thank You GRUDGE, I Could Have Never Realized That!
But Anyways, Woody Harrelson Was Great As Ever But The Film Itself Was Just Ok!
-
I gotta go with Dance of the Dead. It has a lil bit of everything you love in a zombie movie.

GRUDGE4life posted an update in the group Slasher Fans June 14, 2009 11:23 am
Freddy, Jason, and Michael are good, but how long can we relive the 80′s and early 90′s?
-
I would say I agree with you. I love all of the classic figures and it seems all that is happening as of late is remakes. Im not going to go into how much that annoys me right now (see my blog) but yes we need a new slasher series with loads of cheesey fun sequels… like the good ole days :he:
-
This might be a stretch, but, wasn’t Victor Crowley (from Hatchet, 2006) a pretty decent slasher villain? He had some of the characteristics of the 80s and 90s villains but was brutal enough for modern audiences. Agree? Disagree? Please, sound off.
-
Victor Crowley and Chrome Skull (“Laid to Rest”) are new faces, but nobody seems to like them however….i love these two new faces (although not very pretty faces) and i think that there should be a new one made up to please all the naysayers in thw world…
-
What about the movie, “Tripper”??? not really a new face, but a new face to slasher films, Ronald Reagan! he always creeped me out.
-
as that may be sad and true at the same time, i think we need a killer who is heartless and ruthless unlike a former president…
-
come on…bush would be a great “heartless and ruthless” killer, or was….lol
-
but really i think we need a child killer/murderer. kids can be so creepy. we need a bad ass kid that is just crazy…
-
we all should know by now that children in horror films means creepy! but i agree, if there was a kid killing people nobody would suspect them and that could make for some sick original kills! i dont know how that would be pulled off though….
-
I thought Victor Crowley and Chrome Skull were great! But Favorite is unseen Killer Its me Billy from original Black Christmas
-
bunny, you’re right. Remember that kid in Pet Cemetery? Still scares the crap out of me to this day.
-
i love the remake “black x-mas” and i love billy and agnus!!!! those two made such a good, creepy, killing family…maybe there could be a new movie with two killers instead of just one…how about that for a change?
-
not sure how it would be pulled of either….but i bet zombie could make it kick ass!
-
RZ could make anything look kick ass….that is just his specialty!
-
not to mention i would like to see more of Sheri Zombie! ;p She’s awesome.
we did have a recent “family killing” movie w/ the House 1000 & Devils Rejects.
-
do you think that the series could possibly make a rebound? maybe like a prequel to “House of a Thousand Corpses”…
-
hmmmm like the sound of that…..
-
ok now….if you were the writer of a slasher film what would this new killer look, act. smell, taste, and sound like?
-
taste like? dunnno if i want to be getting close enough to taste one of these guys.
but i still think child. needs to be a little innocent looking blonde haired blue eyes little girl! and she is just heartless and cold, but great at acting innocent and being inconspicuous. could use this off the “prequel idea” for the house of 1000…[Read more]

There’s a child killer film coming out soon called Orphan. I saw the trailer last week. There’s a little girl in it called Esther who’s “got a secret” and bad things tend to happen when she’s around. Looks a bit like The Omen to me.
-
i know i will want to see it, but will this Esther girl be the start of a new series that will cpativate us and make us proud for living in this time period?
-
I highly doubt it! Haha. I don’t think it looks very original. I’ll probably wait until it’s out on DVD.
-
Victor Crowley is a great slasher icon, but i think we need a more orginal horror icon (Maybe supernatural).
-
i dont know about supernatural….can you define what you mean by supernatural….i hope you do realize that this is the slasher group and not the Japanese horror group!
-
there is always room for a new and cruel slasher. I have a idea that I am outlining for a script but I cant give info on it for protection purpose’s.
-
set in a very remote area with no explaning of the killer or killers
‘s with a lot of death and action.mixed characters and just a little tid bit fready, jason, and michael are all supernatural embodiesment of evil. -
thats one thing I dont like about the Friday remake is that it made Jason to human and the chacaters are just to cookie cutter. I have watched the film like five times trying to find better things about it but the same problems with it keep coming up.
-
how is he too human? by the way…to be honest i think you should scratch the “tid bit” idea and just make your own fucking killer….i started this post so that we could finally get rid of using killers that have already been around for decades….make up your own masked psycho!!!! a lot of people (like me) would respect you more as a creative…[Read more]

by the way, are you watching the movie to enjoy it….or are you watching the movie to critique it?
-
the tibit part was not for my idea it was to say too the posts before me that were talking about supernatural slasher and that this is a place for slashers and that all slashers are not supernatural which is wrong because most slashers are embodiements of evil which is supernatural.
-
all I have to say is the team that did the remake of chainsaw did one of the best remakes ever and I enjoy the hell out of that film. So when I heard they were making a Friday reboot and the same team from chainsaw was going to be in control and have a huge budget. I was stoked! but then I went to see it and it was ok but over all it was a big let…[Read more]

Sorry Grudge, I might sort of agree with Evil here, but just a little bit. Most films are inspired by others, especially horror films. That being said, we also really need an original story. Hot teens in the woods won’t work forever. At least, not for the diehard fans.
-
i thought that second post was still part of your idea….which pissed me off sooo much, but now i get what you were talking about….i just wanted to make a point that usually when people watch remakes like “Halloween” they critique it first and then watch the movie later IF they ever get a chance to see it again….that really makes me mad when…[Read more]

yes, lacrimas that might be true, but we dont have to use the very same idea as everybody else do we? Chrome Skull was like none other when it came to slashers……and the writer probably studied other slasher films to know how Chrome Skull should act, walk, breath, etc. there is nothing wrong with a aspiring writer being inspired by “A Nightmare…[Read more]

well thank you for restating my main point at the very first page of this thread….it doesnt help to just say that, but instead it helps to ask why we dont….or when will we get our generations Freddy, Jason, or Myers? this is what i am trying to carve out of stone here……….maybe by chance someone who is writing a script for a horror film…[Read more]
-
who are you talking about? hollywood does suck, but the people who write the scripts for these movies are very creative……the problem is that in the 80′s most of everything was going into horror films, while now a days everything is going into action and comedy instead…..no imagination?
-
good to know, but is this a problem to you? because you should know by now that all slasher movies have the same basic concept…..some person is killing another person or other people………the only difference from movie to movie is the how the plot plays out…..there are no original slasher films anymore, but original plots and…[Read more]

that goes with almost all movies. people are just running out of ideas. occationally we get someone with an awsome imagination that comes up with somthing original but for the most part, everythings been done already. its sad but true.
-
alright then…if this is the sad and hopeless truth, then what is something original (that we haven’t seen yet) in a slasher film that would interest you the most?
-
i said, “occationally we get SOMEONE with an awsome imagination who can come up with something origianl”, not refering to myself. i’m no writer. i wish it wernt true, but it is. not all new movies suck but they have sorta been done before.
-
i know, but didnt you ever wish that something certain could happen in a slasher film? like a certain event of certain style of death?
-
NO! that is the 90′s horror icon, not this decades……i think that we need a slasher killer who will be ruthless and heartless. this person doesnt need to have a background story (Chrome Skull in “Laid to Rest”), but it doesnt hurt. in fact, it actually would help us a lot in this new decade of horror coming up pretty soon…..
-
by writing down our thoughts maybe there could be an aspiring screen writer looking at this group and getting ideas from our suggestions? i would love to say that WB Lionsgate and Dimension are paying attention to what we are saying on BD, but i am crossing my fingers and toes with ya Jae!
-
Hey Grudge, I do likie the hot teen girls in the woods. However, bunny was right, writers are running out of ideas for stories. As much as I complain about complacency in horror, I got no new ideas without bordering on the supernatural. Maybe those studios are paying attention to what the fans are saying. Jae, I’m also crossing my fingers and…[Read more]

I must disagree with the whole “we dont need a back story”. i hate movies like that. you need to know some kinda back story. people dont just wake up one day and decide okay today i’m gonna off everyone in town. usually the way they became what they are is the most interesting. that was my fav. part of the remake of Halloween. there was a…[Read more]

but to have the story written straight from the mind of an acutal psycopath would be awsome….
like if ted bundy would have written a film or charles manson, i bet it would have been kick ass. (i dont condone what they did, but think they have the right mind to create a kick ass horror film)
-
just look at what we got when the great mind of rob zombie created a film…AWSOMENESS!! House of a 1000 corpses was a great original film that had people completly stunned. (yea he wasnt a psycopath, but he has a dark & creative mind) when that movie was over the first time i watched it, i was like…..Wow! in aww . it was so twisted.
-
i love a good back story too, but if the writer is not going to write a good one (by good i mean fairly decent), then why right one at all?
that idea about having actual psychopaths writing stories is not a bad idea…..maybe someday in the near future writers will go there for a good story…..
a manson horror film would be sick nasty, but i…[Read more] -

what is wrong with just murders bunny? “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” was a great movie which produced a lot of amazing sequels (and a couple of bad ones)……maybe “House of 1000 Corpses” can duplicate this result…..i would sure as hell be happy to see this happy for slasher films sake and RZ’s sake!

You know what Grudge? That idea for a franchise from House of 1000 Corpses sounds pretty good. I would love to see the things that family did in between that and Devil’s Rejects. Also, stories from actual psychopaths would be interesting. Getting them to tell their story to talented writers sounds like it could work. Hey, we might have something…[Read more]

There is nothing wrong with just murders, i just prefer it with a little style! ;p i think that they need to be creative about their killings and that it makes for a more interesting movie. i still like the classic stab n go but prefer creativity.

yes it would suck (for the person it happened to) but that would be the selling point of the movie, the controversy alone would make it a best seller!
and alot of other movies are based off of actual events, like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (Edward Gein murders)
-
ok then bunny….would you rather see 30 deaths in an hour and a half or 5-10 creative deaths in the same time? i dont think it would matter as long as the murders have been long enough removed, and enough time for the families and friends to get over what had happened……i think someone should write a letter to RZ asking him, nicely, to make a…[Read more]

personally, id rather see the 5-10 creative and tourturistic deaths.

ok…ok…good to know, but for the record i would love to see a middle ground between the two where there are 15-20 deaths in a relatively interesting fashion…..but that might be too picky……i do agree though that quality should always reign over quantity when it comes to slashers movies!!!
-
Me, personally, I think it’s about time we have an Iconic female horror villain and when I say iconic I mean on the level of Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, Leatherface etc. Do you guys think an original female villain could actually be the face of a franchise and be scary?
-
if you could pull of an “inbetween” that would be awsome. but directors usually have a hard time doing alot of creative killings in one movie tho.
Machete is scheduled to start filming this month! (according to Wikipedia and Entertainment Weekly.
and i totally think a female could be on the level of the classics! think that would be the…[Read more]

i dont think that we do have an actress who can play that type of role now a days…..we breed women to be the victims, and now we tell them to be the killer? its also hard to make a female character into a heartess killing machine! she is supposed to be hot, evil, creative, and no heart? does this make sense somehow?

well maybe they were raped by their father and then they take it out on all fathers or men. eh but a feminist villain might get made fun of….hmmm
maybe a back story kinda like carrie, abused by foster mother, hates women, kills women…..

-
thats the problem…..not many people are going to want to see a women take revenge out on men ( or in the case of “Carrie” women) the whole movie…..there has to be something more substantial then that……the story is very thin then and you lose your audience!!! if there was a better story then that for a woman killer i would love to see…[Read more]

we do need a slasher that is striaght out brutal with no emotion one with a very shady background that just appears and just attacks into some one gets lucky and stops the evil for a little while at least. a true embodiement of evil I have a outline I am messing with but a new slasher that is not comical at all is very hard to come up with but I…[Read more]

I have a idea of a evil that gets into the mind of a regular man/or lady and drives them to the brink of insanity into the evil takes over and causes them to kill once they do the evil comes back to life and kills the killer and everone else that it can.
-
not a carrie remake, i’m just sugesting that there be a terrible “thing” happen that turns them killer…like michael, jason, etc. deff. agree that you would need the write person to write it. and she would probly have to be even more heartless and cold than the male killers for people to take her seriously.
-
i think that borders more on a different genre of horror than slasher, but i still like it though!! that is true, she would have to show that she has no heart….maybe one scene where someone begs and she doesnt hesitate to kill them in an instant…..i think that the script is the most important part of that movie then….if it ever happens!!!

comedy in horror is never a good idea………ya i like it, but i know that it is bad for the whole horror industry when someone is poking a very fragile line with a very pointy stick!

comedy/horror. its deff. not just a comedy. way to bloody…

Jae is right…..no comedy slasher ever has the title of great plastered next to it, they make every other slasher seem like a joke when they are not meant to be, some do a good job at poking fun only at that specific movie and i agree with that, but when you attack the genre it is unacceptable!!!!…….but Jae if you want suspense in slasher…[Read more]

well bottom line is will the next big face in horror come from a comedy/horror film?

While there have been several great faces of horror(SLASHER MOVIES), it seems that the 80′s and 90′s used up almost every possible visage someone cane think of. Not to knock those movies because they were pretty good but they’ll never reach the status of Jason and Freddy because they haven’t already. Sometimes a sequel will luanch a character to mainstream status. I know this isn’t horror, but the character of “El” in Desperado was made famous by that sequel. A lot of people don’t know that the first movie that character appeared in was in El Mariachi.

Oh, and the same could be said for the character of Hannibal Lecter. He first appeared in the film Manhunter.

just curious as to why talking about bringing back old killers with new movies, when the title of this discussion is….”DO WE NEED A NEW FACE IN HORROR?”

we are more or less talking about the dynamics of how the new killer would be launched into instant success, fear747′s comment, or if Crhome Skull, Leslie Vernon, or Victor Crowley could ever have a second chance and have thier sequel being their launching pad to success, lacrimasprofundere88′s comment…….i hope the second is ture because i…[Read more]

how bout The Tipper where a chick in a tipper gore suit goes around killing fowl mouthed head bangers

i liked Billy ! but i wish they wouldnt mess up Jason ! The original Jason was so much more inventive … Derek was a cool Jason but campy fun of using odd things as weapons was missing, the Michael aint so bad either, Victor Crowley was sooo weak. Lets see what they do with Freddy ! ….

you cant have a movie called “The Tipper” and not have people make fun of the name……spare change could be the main weapon in that movie also….did that ever occur to you????

heard about it, but not really taking the movie that seriously though……you know how many times i have heard somebody say that a movie was going to be “…a good new slasher film”?

Have you guys seen the tv promos for The Collector. It’s has a quote from Bloody Disgusting “A New Horror Icon Is Born.” What do you guys think? It’s got me interested.
-
ya the collector definitely looks sweet
-
“The Collector” does look amazing…..and maybe that killer is the new face in horror we need…..what do you guys think????
Rafael, have you seen “Behind the Mask: Rise of Leslie Vernon”????
-
they will definitly make a sequel……that movie had to good of reviews not to……..”The Collector” also actually looks like a true horror film for once!!!! not a haunting film or a thriller, but an old school slash and hack screamer of a movie……
-
the kids screaming wont change for me at all because parents around here think that it is ok to bring thier kids to an R-rated movie (“Orphan”)……why are people always dissing on the PG-13 stuff???? come on…..some of them are good….
-
i’m honestly not to excited about the collector….i’m afraid that they will ruin it w/ 6 more sequals….
-
6 more sequels has only proven to be that much better for horror films!!!! im hoping that for the new generation of slasher films “The Collector” is that good……im hoping that it deserves an R-rating…..
-
Leslie Vernon could be a great new horror icon. The character has everything going for it. The collector does look pretty decent. I really hope it lives up to all the hype. The fact that the tagline has already declared it an icon is very bold.
-
PG-13s good for ghost stuff and I am legend but they need to stay away from slashers if nothing else
-
But there is too much of a good thing (or sequels)! i liked the first 2 saws…..then it just got old….they (in my opinoin) werent that great to deserve that many damn sequels.

H2 and T-Rex i thought…..
-
Dont think there would be much of a story/time for an inbetween movie, but a beginning movie would be kick ass. To know how the gang all came together….cept that Matthew McGrory died so having tiny appear might be a bit difficult….
-
More of a back story to Dr Satan would be good.
They could also do another sequel but with a supernatural element to it? Not sure if that would work though. -
I dont really see RZ doing a “supernatural” type movie.
-
i dont think el terror is talking about what we are…….i also think that RZ should do a prequel to both “House of 1000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects”…..because there is some good period of time between the two movies and you could fill that with a good survivor girl like Rose Byrne??? maybe a big break for her???? the second option does…[Read more]
-
bunny’s right about RZ. His films follow a pattern of having some realism to them. More back story on Dr. Satan would be cool. I just don’t know if anyone can take a killer serious with a name like ”Dr. Satan”. Either way, RZ knows these characters very well. I bet any future movie with those characters would be great.
-
its almost like RZ knows those characters personally???? who knows maybe Dr. Satan was the one who brought the horrid group together in the first place!!! its for RZ to create and for us to find out!!!
-
yep, think it would be an “ASSTASTIC” movie ;p
-
i agree, but lets wait until we actually get a statement from the man himself to be excited for this movie……plus why are you using quotes????
-
no reason….lol
nope havent seen it yet…not really on my top list of movies to check out….
-
I still haven’t seen it but It doesn’t seem like The Collector is gonna be a new icon. I guess we’ll have to keep on waiting for that special someone.
-
was that movie by chance “The Cottage”??? why wait???? i will bring up the three names that were discussed earlier……Vernon, Crowley, and Chromeskull???? they have the potential to break through and bring the slashers back to center stage!!!
-
it was made by some of the guys who wrote the Saw movies!!!! i didnt forget good ol’ Leslie!!!! i agree that all three of those, if they are going to have a sequel or prequel of some sort, should be released in theatres and advertised for maybe a little!!! that would be big and very important for the future of slasher films…..
-
in the case of Chromeskull (since he died at the end) i am hoping for a good prequel if anything!!!! which one do you think will have the best/ most succesful second movie???
-
i think so too…..but for pure horror i would love to see a great “Hatchet 2″ release because i though out of three that “Hatchet” had the most potential, but didnt use it!!!
-
you didnt know that???? do you not look at the news every once in a while??? im hoping a news story comes in soon for either one before i see a trailer!! “Children of the Corn” should be good, but i heard there was a PG-13 rating though….
-
Meh. That’s why we haven’t had a new horror icon in ages. No more original ideas.
-
So I saw the Orphan this weekend (yea i’m slow…sue me) but i was really diappointed. It got good reviews, so i had high hopes for it. It took waaaaay to long to get going. Not very gorey and the twist was okay but easy to figure out.
Ester is deff. not gonna be the new face in horror….
-
I still need to see Drag Me Hell.
-
i saw “Orphan” and i liked it, but bunny is right that Esther is no new face in horror and we should not get our hopes up for a sequel to that movie either…..the only problem i had with that movie is that the movie was going in a perfect direction (in my opinion) and then the twist ruined it for me…..i still havent seen “Drag Me to Hell”…[Read more]
-
Drag Me to Hell is loads of fun. It ain’t very original but it delivers on the shocks and laughs.
So, what film is everyone going to watch first when they’re released…The Final Destination or Halloween 2? I’m gonna watch ‘em both on the 28th but can’t decide which to watch first. -
Halloween 2 For sure. would like to goto the premeire, but like jae going to the movies here sucks, too. saw halloween’s premeire and people wouldnt shut up! so i’ll probly wait til like a monday night or something. uh people are so inconsiderate.
-
The Orphan is worth seeing, i guess, but i would just rent it first jae, instead of buying it. i would put it on the same level as The Omen. bout as bloody and as scary (not much)
-
but “Orphan” does deliver in the story department like us Americans havent seen lately…..but bunny is right that it is better to rent a movie like “Orphan” because it is a movie that you either love it or you can live with it……….to tell you the truth i am not going to see either movie when they come out in the theatres……i am a firm…[Read more]
-
i agree that watching a movie in the privacy/silence of your own home is the best way to watch a movie, but by that time someone has ruined it for you (by telling the end or twist) and alot of times it just takes so dern long for it to come out. So for important movies like Halloween 2 i will face the horror of the movie theature…..
-
no my friends all know my predicament and they wont talk about it around me….plus i think it is more important how the twist plays out instead of what the twist is!!!
-
My theater experiences have never been that bad…I guess I’m just lucky.
-
I’ve had a few. That’s why I tend to go during the day mostly when it’s quiet. One thing I do hate is going to watch a film that’s rated 15 and you get gangs of kids sat in front of you who talk and act like pr*%ks the whole time.
-
thats why you get a big bucket of popcorn and dump it on them while screaming “SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU LITTLE BASTARDS!!!!!” always a good time when that happens…..you know i havent had that many bad experiences, but its just more of ai dont want to waste mymoney on the chance that it will be ruined…..im sort of picky with my movie watching preference….
-
i have to say that i am not a big fan of 3D……i cant see why it is a big deal that we try to silence those loud and abnoxious people…….
-
I blame society and the theatures! they should have security type system where an usher or something stands in the movies and removes people whom disturbe others.
and i blame society b/c kids/teens/people just dont have manners like they used to. i was brought up to behave in public, act appropriate in public, and use my basic manners. …[Read more]
-
stupid society!!!! ruin my time at the movie theatre!!!!! i dont even like the idea of a 4-D movie either….i think 3-D is just a fad that will pass with time……
-
Has anyone seen “THE CHILDREN”?? that is the saddest excuse for a movie ever!! wondering if anyone else watched it and was as disappointed as i was……..I had the worst headache after that movie!
-
I completely agree! Watching british horror lately then? Eden Lake was a much better film than The Children.
-
“Eden Lake” is a brilliant movie, and it seems that British horror is taking off recently….that new horrorfest that is coming up will be sick…..sooo jealous of the people going to that!!!
-
On a different note, I just saw The Collector. While, I think he’s pretty clever (with his traps and all) and somewhat bad ass…He doesn’t have that “x-factor” that made Michael Myers & Freddy so special.
-
well maybe….even though i do trust you fear747….i also think that the killer from “The Collector” is able to give us a sense of hope that maybe someday, even someday soon, there could and maybe will be that new face in horror that we all dreamed of……now it is only a matter of time until one is born from the depths of a scary and twisted mind….
-
thats the problem though…..what if that example doesnt come along???? are they too scared to take a chance and make thier own “Hatchet” or “Laid to Rest”?
-
Ah, so I went to see H2 last night (bonus: we were the only one’s in there, everyone else was watching 9) Just so u guys know….RZ has done it again! I was expecting it not to be as good as the first one (b/c even RZ said everything went wrong while filming and was kinda pushed to finish it) But it was awsome! Had even more of a Zombie feel to…[Read more]

now im really excited to see this one…..did you give a review of it yet????

Think so… lol
Deff. go see it! cant wait for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it a few more times and see the director’s cut! (hope there is one!)
-
In a way we’ve already got a few new faces in horror, The Creeper from the Jeepers Creepers movies, Jigsaw from the Saw movies(though those are more of torture films than slashers but he’s pretty iconic now) and The collector. I love Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, etc. but the only movies we’ve been getting with them are remakes of the originals…[Read more]

Your telling me u think the Jeepers Creepers and Jigsaw are better than Rob Zombie’s MM????? You know, I’m all for people’s personal opinions, but NO! I would love to see somebody make a kickass, new slasher saga. Laid to rest and Hatchet could definitely work, but id love to see them extend the series by three or four. I personally enjoyed Saw 1 (hated the others and don’t particularly like the 1st anymore either!), Jeepers Creepers (2nd one was crap though) and Rob Zombie’s Halloween (Haven’t seen the 2nd one yet as it isn’t out in UK) but I prefer Nightmare on Elm Street over all of them! Each to their own! Maybe the final part was a bit of a let down but I thought the build up to when they realised what was after them was really good.
I assume you won’t be watching Jeepers Creepers 3 when it’s released then? :he: -
Just watched a good indie horror film called Baby Blues. Anyone heard of it? It’s called Cradle Will Fall in the UK. It’s a slasher film with a twist as the killer is a mother with post-natal depression and the victims are her children! It’s quite brutal and shocking at times.
Worth a watch if you haven’t seen it and it leaves the ending open for…[Read more] -
bunnyracer420, The Jeepers Creepers films are way better than Rob Zombie’s remake for many reasons. one, it’s an original idea, 2, it’s more about suspense and 3, having the creepers origin kept unknown is what makes him scary(though I hear it’s going to be explained in JP3 more), 4, the acting is way better compared to the ones in Zombie’s films,…[Read more]

Well sorry but all the reasons u listed for JC being good are the reasons its crap:
1) its a bad “original idea”.
2)its not suspense, its straight up forgetting to add the whole story
3) keeping his origin unknown isnt scary…its annoying
4)The acting was okay at best
5) RZ characters are way cooler..(not some high school kids…that everyone…[Read more] -

Ouch! Welcome Back, BunnyRacer!

lol

Anyone see Trick r’ Treat??? uh, I loved it!
-
Yeah! It was so good!
-
Yeah, watched it on Halloween and enjoyed it. I didn’t see the twist with the “virgin” coming.
-
Im not gonna go back and read through the thread, but I absolutely Loved the Collector. I’d be a fan if it turned into a Franchise for sure. I enjoyed the mix of Torture porn, stalking, and TRAPS. He always takes one…i’d like to see what he does to that “one” between murders.
-
I just love the little “trick r’ treat” guy he was adorable!
-
me too! hope they make one!
-
u r such a bunch of girls!!!! that thing would scare the shit out of me in the middle of the night!!! this is why i am giving that as a gift to my scaredy cat friend!!!
-
Welcome back too, Grudge, where ya been?
-
WHAT!!!!!??? are you kidding me??? nothing beats dead cat!!!!!!! especially if it has rabies!!!!
-
no way creepy pumpkin kid would be the ultimate gift
-
I say horror is in need of a “New Face” but the bar has been set so high..it’s gonna be real hard!
-
correction….the bar WAS set to high…..now that we have failed so much at created/sustaining a new face in horror the bar is set pretty low to the point where any series could take over at this point…..
if i see some dead cats in boxes im gonna be pretty pissed….. -
chucky remake would be ok 2 c
-
a chucky remake would be too early…..
-
Sam from “Trick ‘r Treat” didnt actually kill anybody until the end of the movie…..not a good clean kill either.
Harry Warden is an old character that is in a remade movie…so he would not count…..although he is a good killer….
do you have any ideas for a good killer that you are describing Rafael??? -
Personally I would think we don’t need a new face in horror for another 10 years…
We need films like Jeepers Creepers 3, My Bloody Valentine 2, Scream 4, and many other film’s to carry on there are still many explanations to be answered in those films so really I’d like to say the truth and say that the new faces are failing and not being…[Read more]
-
i do not think a third “Jeepers Creepers” would be a good idea
“My Bloody Valentine” and Harry are not new so they are not involved in this “NEW”
“Scream” 4 would not rake in a lot of money…..and also not a new face in horror….
i think that one or two new faces would be better than a bunch…..Victor Crowly and Chrome Skull are amazing…[Read more] -
Honestly people should rent Doctor X (1932) and see what horror use to be like, Horror today the “NEW” are mostly remakes so it’s the same face in horror just carrying on, Scream 4 will make more than the latest Saw film and I don’t think we need a new face in horror!, Hatchet 2 is being made, But I think you’ve been mistaken “Personally I would…[Read more]

you cannot make a new movie for an old killer and call it a new face in horror…..because that is not true……the “NEW” we are talking about is not refering to the remakes, obviously……..those movies are carrying on new legacies for older faces like Vorhees and Myers….. the new you are thinking of is the movie…this thread is talking…[Read more]
-
You CAN make a sequel for an old killer!, I said WE DON’T NEED A NEW FACE IN HORROR!!!!
-
then why are you on the “DO WE NEED A NEW FACE IN HORROR” thread talking about sequels for old killers instead of new killers altogerther????
-
Because we don’t need a new face and we still need Scream 4, Jeepers Creepers 3.
-
we dont need either of those….i actually think both movies would suck hardcore!!!!!
-
If they got the right writer and director… Scream 4 should be directed by Darren Bousman (Saw IV) and written by Patrick Melton and Thomas Fenton (Saw IV)… Jeepers Creepers 3 should be directed by James Wan (Death Sentance) and written by Adam Green (Hatchet)… If so what would you think??
-
the “Scream 4″ writers and director all sucked in “Saw IV”……they were given a good series and fucked it up hardcore!!!!!
i feel pretty hesitant about James Wan….he is good, but nothing really noteworthy so far…..Adam Green on the other hand is someone who can write you up a good script!!!! the only problem now is for the two of them to…[Read more] -

Saw IV to me failed just like Saw III and V and I have not seen all of Saw VI but didn’t like it so far also to me it seems like after the main who put saw together Greg Hoffman died after Saw III’s announcement the series fell into the black hole, Jeepers Creepers 2 majorly failed and I don’t think the third will ever…[Read more] -

Leslie Vernon is amazing, as far as new faces go. But agreed, the world needs someone (or some) fresh that’ll keep the mainstream audiences sucked in too. If BtM:TRoLV would’ve gotten more mainstream exposure, I have no doubt he could have pulled it off.

What about the new faces of the classic killers? How do they measure up?
-
i think Michael Myers has improved as well as Jason, but Freddy is kind of hard to follow up on though…i still think that you can improve on Freddy though
-
out of all the Jason outfits what was your favorite then??
i guess i meant the question to mean how can we make new horror vilians to improve upon those of the past??
-
i think the outfit from part 7 was the best
-
i think my favorite would be the burlap sack over the head…it has the hick look and i think the burlap sack is more intimidating…
-
yeah, the sack was pretty creepy, but the one from part 7 made him look extremely badass, and unkillable, because you could see have of his insides already
-
oops, i meant half of his insides
-
what are the chances they make a sequel to the “Friday the 13th” remake???
-
oh god, i hope not
-
did you not like the first remake??
-
its one of the best remakes ive seen, but i just hope they dont, im partial to the originals
-
so then how do you feel about the “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Halloween” remakes???
-
i hated the NOES, but i didnt like the halloweens too much, but they werent bad. i like the originals, i know ive said it before, but ill say it again
-
how about the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movies???
what didnt you like about the first “Halloween” remake???
-
the TCMs werent too bad, i liked how they were alot more fast paced then the originals (the 1st remake sucked though), i just didnt like them giving Michael all that back story and having his mask in shambles, but, hey, thats just me
-
to tell you the truth i loved the first “Halloween” remake, but the second dissapointed me…i actually liked the back story…which “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” do you consider the first?? the first one made or the one with the word “beginning” in it…
how about the “Hills Have Eyes” remakes???
-
i liked the hills have eyes, but there were two remake to TCM, “beginning” was just a prequel
-
are you counting “The Next Generation” in that???
-
no, that was the fourth sequel
-
to the original
-
i cant think of any other movie that is a remake of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” excluding the 2003 installment…
In some places they list “The Next Generation” as a quasi-remake to the original, but i agree with you that it is a sequel…
-
Theres Also A 2006 TCM Reboot! Sick But Good!
And As For ‘Next Generation’, Its Completely Worthless, Really Insulting!
And I Somewhat Liked The The First Halloween Remake, But The 2nd Totally Blew Me Off! Rob Zombie Is Best! He Is Gonna Do A Remake Of The Blob Also I Think?

i agree with you on the “Halloween” remakes and “The Next Generation” nightmare…i dont even consider “The Next Generation” a part of the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series…i just remember loving the first ten minutes of the second “Halloween” remake and then the storyline shifted dramatically for the worse…

did you read what you said nightmare?? do you think it is a reboot or a prequel?? you cant have a reboot and a prequel in the same movie…
it makes sense that if the 2003 movie is a remake and the 2006 movie is a prequel of the 2003 movie then it is also a prequel of the original as well…true??

no, thats not what i said, i said that there was too much dialogue. it made it a little bit less of a massacre then brought up to be

Allryt Then………

i was making a point that some people do not want dialogue and plot…thus why so many people prefer action movie to horror films…I brought up action movies to help prove a point…
eviltbot: what did you expect from a low budget horror film from the 70′s???

i liked it, but i was de-sensitised from an early age, so im more bloodthirsty. im the kind of guy that loves good plots, good one-liners, crap like that, but i still believe that any movie needs a good dose of violence

nightmare: that is not what i said…i never said that we can only discuss films from the 70′s and 80′s…go look back at what i said…if you dont want to then i will sum it up for you as ‘it is generally accepted, by most people on this website, that the classics start in the late 70′s to the mid 80′s’…i never said we couldnt discuss older…[Read more]

wow grudge, you make a great arguement
-
Listen: Theres No Point In Talkng To You All! We Are Just 2 Different People Who Have Different Tastes!
But, In My Book I Have Listed The People Who Dont Like Ultra Classics As Downright Ignorants And Complete Assholes!
You Carry On The Arguement As Long As You Like……..I Aint Gonna Be Moved GRUDGE!
-
so i am ignorant and a complete asshole because i dont like films from the 1930′s??? that makes complete sense…i wonder what it would be like to use that kind of logic in my everyday life?? “you dont like something that i like so you must be an asshole!” i might just start doing that!
nightmare: i never said i wanted to change your opinion…
-
i like the original monster movies too
-
Sure, Sure, Sure, Sure!
-
eviltbot: what would you want from a new face in horror??
-
You Just Cant Skip People GRUDGE……….
I Would Say Jigsaw Is Great…….Maybe Even Samara Morgan/
-
maybe a slasher that plays mind games with their prey?
-
Forget That………How About Mahogany From Midnight Meat Train?
-
Like GRUDGE Said, He Wanted Someone Stronger!
He Is Strong……
-
never heard of him…
-
Its 2009 Horror Film………Check It Out!
-
will do
-
I watched The Collector last night and he definitely has potential for a decent franchise. The film doesn’t give much away about the character but I’m interested to see where they go with the story in the sequel.
-
Isnt It Made By The Same Guys Behind SAW?
-
Yeah. That put me off initially but it’s much better than the Saw films in my opinion. I’m not a fan of that series.
-
HEY!
SAW Is The Best There Ever Is…. But If You Dont Like It *SIGH* Like They Say, Theres One In Every Crowd!
-
I think you’ll find I’m not the only one! I liked the first one but then got quickly bored with it.
-
saw is far from the best franchise, if i do say so myself
-
SAW Is The Best Franchise……..
Btw: What Franchise You Like Best?
-
I personally love the Nightmare on Elm Street series (even the dodgy ones). I also like Halloween and Friday 13th series’.
-
How About Texas Chainsaw?
Apart From New Generation & 2003, All The Others Are Winners!
-
But, I Agree With You On NOES & Halloween!
-
I loved the original TCM and liked the remake but wasn’t really into the others. They were OK though.
I would rank the Friday 13th series third in my top three. I do enjoy them but NOES and Halloween are more sentimental to me as I watched them from when I was around 3 years old (seriously). I didn’t catch up with Friday 13th until I was much older. -
Yea, And Anyways To Me, Friday The 13th Are A Little Shallow (No Offence Anyone)…. I Think The Reason Why I Relate To NOES & TCM Is Because They Have Over-The-Top Killers In Them As Compared To Jason!
And Halloween, Apart From The 1st And The RZ Remakes, None Were As More Appealing!
-
I agree with Friday 13th being a little shallow but it hasn’t done too badly considering the original was made as a cheap knock-off of Halloween. I still find most of them really enjoyable though.
The Scream series also used to be a favourite of mine when I was younger but I hardly ever watch them now. I’m quite looking forward to Scream 4…[Read more] -
the only good remakes were from halloween and friday the 13th, even then, they werent that good
-
Good One El Terror, But I Seriously Disagree With You On Scream!
I Mean, Its Just Too Boring Too ‘Teenage’ Type! Get What I Mean? Its Funny That I Loved The ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Series And The ‘Final Destination’ Series! They Were Kinda Clever!
-
Scream does seem a bit like a soap opera these days but at the time I was a huge fan. I also liked I Know What You Did Last Summer (1st one) and Final Destinations (the latest one was rubbish though). Urban Legend was another good film. Still enjoy that one.
-
im a big fan of the evil dead series too (i dont know if that counts as slasher)
-
Evil: I Think It Does!
El Terror: Yes, The Latest One Was Sure-Fire Rubbish! 3D & All That! Probably The Best Is The 2nd One And How About Mimic?
-
i loved the first final destination, that one was great
-
2ND RULES!
-
i wasnt a big fan of that one, but it was still pretty cool
-
Yup, It Was Quite Clever When It Came Out….. Quote Something I Had Never Seen Before!
But Then It Got Too Outta-Fashion Too Fast……
-

Hey FP:
Saw The Trailer For Josie….. Its Not Much Of It BUT I Sure Can Tell Its Gonna Be Moody And Dark And (Maybe) Like ‘I Spit On Your Grave’?
Am I Right? When Its Gonna Come Out?
-
What the trailer is now is a teaser the film is still in pre-production it should be shot and hopefully out in time for halloween! Yes it will be like spit on your grave meets halloween it will also be over the top and with the help ive had on the screenplay from hess and miller it stands to become a cult classic!
-
Allryt Then…….. If You Are That Confident, I Might Give It A Try!
Excuse Me For Asking: But What Influenced You To Do Josie?
-
David Hess, He told me he wanted to work with me on a film after seeing the trailer to my first and I had to sttart writing. I knew the idea I wanted to do cause I dreamed it a few weeks prior and I dreamt David in the role so I wrote it and copyrighted it then sent it to David he helped me with what I needed to get the story complete and I made…[Read more]

Lastly I am tired of all these crappy horror films I wanna show new horror fans who havent got to enjoy older horror films like we have why we love em so much and I hope my uniqueness and over the top ideas mixed with the campy feel of the 70′s and 80′s will make that happen!
-
So, Maybe Once This Josie Becomes Big, You Can Count Us As One Of Your First Fans Maybe!
But I Still Have Absolutely No Idea What This Josie Is All About……

When Carpenter’s Halloween came out every critic hated it except for one in New York. These days its on Top 100 Films of all time lists. Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 were bombs that both critics and fans loathed when they first came out.
With films like Hatchet, Behind The Mask, etc- they were celebrated critically in the media but they weren’t…[Read more] -

Without a doubt i’m most scared of Kayako Saeki she fareeeks me out. In spirit form she’s terrifying but when we see her in bloody gittery stair walk mode, fuck me thats some jump behind the couch shit.
Kayako Saeki and Sadako Yamamura are the creepiest in my opinion.
I do think Toshio Saeki is adorable and wouldn’t mind keeping him as a pet if I was sure that Kayako wouldn’t show up
Thats a sweet offer of adoption Adiens but i hope your a cat person too cos Toshio and that damn cat seem to be a package deal
you know what if you take Toshio i will gladly take the cat off your hands…that kind of sound would chase away any rodent within a mile!!
Well, I was willing to adopt him with the cat and offer him/them catnip. However, if you really want the cat, Grudge4life, I wouldn’t mind just adopting Toshio
just imagine that cat hopped up on catnip…that would be insane and youtube worthy right there!!!
sadako for the win!!!!!
once again i will remind people that this group is for Asian Horror…
unless a post has been deleted i’m pretty sure every one is talking about asian horror?????
Now your message has been deleted…the “Thirst” movies are not asian…and the fact that you brought up an asian actress does not make a movie part of the Asian Horror genre…
Are you seriously trying to suggest that Park Chan-Wook is not Asian??? Tell me oh wise one where is Korea again? lol
i dont care if the people who are involved are Asian…the movie still has to be made and distributed in Asia…which “Thirst” are we talking about here?? “Lost Boys” or that old Australian film??
We are talking (well I am any way ha ha ha) about Park Chan-Wook the Korean director of the vengeance trilogy, made a vampire film called “Thirst” The film was winner of the Cannes festival Prix du jury in 2009, released by Palisades tartan video, Made in Korea By a Korean Director with a Korean cast and released in Korea trust me dude its an…[Read more]
i did not even know that movie existed…i will look for it so i can watch it…i would expect that as in Asian horror tradition the story is more important than any scares that come along the way!
Good To See That There Are Fellow Asian Horror Lovers Here! I’m Impressed!
the few of us have to stay together and hold strong until Asian horror makes a comeback…
You Got That Right!
Anyways, The Fav. Killers Have To Be The Antagonists From ‘New Police Story’…..Especially The Main Guy
I am a newb when it comes to Asian horror, but its really interesting to hear about all these characters ive never seen yet, makes me really excited to start watching them all!
Samara i found really freaky but that was the american version, so i can imagine that the asian version is a lot scarier and better?
I don’t know y’all, Ichi is a pretty sick masochistic bastard, dude cuts off his own tongue as a message to the Yakuza(?). gives himself a chelsea grin, this guy is SO bad-ass.
Maybe Oldboy? The Guy Does The Same, Thinking He Might Earn Forgiveness…..
My favorite would have to be Samara, but I also find Kayako an interesting character as well.
Well my favourite killer is Kakihara from Ichi the killer because he is the one that will make his “victims” die in a painful death and he isn’t scared of death and pain .. He is sooo bad-ass
Also Ruka from Tokyo Gore Police is a really stylish killer
