What is your favorite J-horror movie?

    • Ringu, Audition and, I don’t if this counts but, Godzilla. :D

    • of course Godzilla counts…especially if you are reffering to the black and white films from Japan…

I got to ask why you dont have love for “Ju-On”…

    • Noroi The Curse subtly scared the shit out of me and I love it for that.

    • compared to American horror the Japanese (read Asian) horror industry doesnt rely solely on gratuitous violence to survive, but instead relies on pure fear and witty directing, writing, and acting to entertain the masses…

    • I’m a fan of the Ringu series.

I also like A Tale of Two Sisters, Ju-On, Godzilla, Gamera (I’m assuming he counts if Godzilla does ^^)

Would Battle Royale count or would that be categorized as something else??[Read more]

    • Freakin love the Ju-On series also Ringu, H, and of course the Vengeance trilogy oh and One missed call. Almost forgot Hiiiii, im Ichi Skin, nice to meet you all big love for asian horror :)

    • i guess “Battle Royale” would count if you wanted it too, but i wont be particularly picky myself…

Ichi: how do you feel about the third installment of the japanese “One Missed Call” series??

    • Havent seen it yet. Only caught the first one by accident on film 4 the other night but will be sure to check them both out. Love the group by the way, must admit I’m surprised in the few numbers, we will have to try and convert some of these western heathens.

    • the group is farly new so i will be looking forward to an increase in membership over the coming weeks…

to be completely honest the first “One Missed Call” is by far the best, but saying that i do have to admit that the second is pretty epic!!

    • Presumably they are known as One missed call 2+3 in their english titles???

    • Ichi. I noticed you listed “H” on your list. That was another I was unsure about :P It would be definitely on my list as well.

    • I loved H the only problem I had was i figured it out way too early but was still a great watch and i also got to lord it around the room when i was proven to be right  hehehe

    • the second is named “One Missed Call 2″ (shocking!) and the third is called “One Missed Call: Final”…

    • Hey guys. Just to aware you guys there’s a cool site I found that streams a lot of Asian horror

There’s so many on there I’m looking for recommendations for really good ones. So far the ones I have seen and enjoyed are: The Female Scorpion movies, Lady Snowblood, Tokyo Gore Police, Oldboy, and Versus. One I saw that I really hated was…[Read more]

    • it seems pretty cool, but i would reccomend sticking with the Japanese or Korean movies…

    • Yea, me too Ichi LOL,

Thanks for the cool site War Machine :)

    • Considering most people in this group presumably don’t mind subtitles i’m gonnna go of topic only ever so briefly just to make two recommendations that i’m sure you all will appreciate, The first is a Belgiun film called Switchblade romance (Haute Tension) and the second is a french film Inside (À l’intérieur) Both very gory and both very well…[Read more]

    • why even bring the topic up??? there is a group devoted to french horror on BD…

    • I wouldn’t say this movie is my favorite, but I still thought it was highly entertaining…

Has anyone else seen Tokyo Zombie?

    • no, but i have heard a lot about it and i am still kind of iffy about whether or not i should see it…is it any good?

    • It’s okay. Like I said definitely not a favorite, but worth a watch. Kind of weird a points and I guess it would be the most equivalent to Shaun of the Dead.

    • Ahh back again :) . Maybe i got even thicker in while i was away but i cant trace back to what film Adiens thinks is like Shaun of the dead??

    • “Tokyo Zombie” was the movie…

    • Audition, Suicide Circle, One Missed Call, Dark Tales Of Japan Series And Hero!

Godzilla Also (I Liked Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla The Best & Then Godzilla Vs Mortha 2nd)

    • ……….And Does New Police Story Count?

    • what new ‘police story’

    • No, The Name Itself Is ‘New Police Story’ Starring Jackie Chan!

    • hate to break it to you, but the movie isnt a horror film…so lets try to focus on Asian horror…

    • But It Has Some Bloody Scenes Also……

    • Ok, Tokyo Gore Police………….How About That Eh?

    • “Tokyo Gore Police” is more like it!! i liked it, but it certainly had some good parts and some bad parts though…

    • Yup! I Get Exactly What You Mean………

Question: Did You Thoroughly Enjoy It? As In Is It Like One Of Those Films Which Makes You Wanna Watch It Over And Over Again?

    • i dont know many films that i will watch over and over (i can only name 2), but if some people were watching it i wouldnt turn down an offer to watch it…

    • Sometimes I Do That………

    • Dumplings?

      Never Heard Of It……

    • Finally got round to watching ‘Tale of two sisters’ i’m still trying to figure out the ending but for me thats part of the attraction of asian cinema. Im often left wondering was something lost in translation or is the director just fucking with me, either way im left with food for thought.

    • Its Time To Chew That….

    • Yeah the ending of Ju-on 2 left me just as bamboozled, hello and welcome by the way to any newcomers i havent said hi to yet im Ichi skin and id love to stab fuck and eat you all :) xxx

    • I’m Not New………..But I Will Accept Ur Welcome Anyways!

    • Hiya, im new :) I love asian horror, i know how deep and beautiful the asian horror genre is, i have been in love with japanese culture and its rich history and folklore, as well as anime, lol. So i understand how much more asians put into their films than most american films.

I agree with “GRUDGE4life” asian horror greatly surpasses American…[Read more]

    • I’m One Of Them…….

    • Yay, nice to meet you :)

I have a question for anyone, i just wanted to know is the japanese version of the ring scarier than the american version?

    • YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Million Times YES!

The American Version Is Nothing, The Japanese Version Will Truly Make All Of Your Hair Stand……I Know!

    • Awesome cant wait to see it then, if i dont die from extreme horror i will let you all know what i thought of it :)

Oh also I have seen the grudge, but not the japanese version…i guess it would be a silly question to ask if it is better than the american one? lol considering it sucked!

    • Hello and welcome Syrina84, and yeah you did kinda answer your own question, the Japanese grudge blows Americas one clean out of the water (no world war pun intended mwahahaha) any way welcome again and enjoy The group, You’ve probably done it already but for some great recomendations check out the earlier parts of the thread, you’re safe enough,…[Read more]

    • And Theres One More Horror Film I Cant Place My Finger On It: I Need Help!

There Are 4 Girls Who Practice I Think Yoga? Anyways, They Are Told Not To Eat, Not To Look At Mirror Or Not To Take A Shower……Well, You Guessed It! One By One, They All Do The Above Forbidden Things And Strange Things Start Happening To Them!

    • Audition, Ju-on, and i don’t know if this counts but Oldboy. That’s more of a vengence thriller

    • I saw Audition and Suicide Circle.

I really liked suicide circle, but after the movie i was so confused, lol. After i reflected on the film, I looked up other people’s thoughts on the film it and it all came together. I still have tons of unanswered questions that will probably never get answered. It was still really good and bizarre. Best part…[Read more]

      The minister

    • Yes i mean Uzumaki :)

Alright i will go to IMBD next time.

What did you think of Uzumaki Nightmare?

    • Imdb is awesome

    • Minister: Thank You! And Yes, I Also Check Out Rotten Tomatoes And Metacritic…..Do You Know The Latter?

Syrina: Yes, Uzumaki Was A Very Weird And Dark Film! The Snail People Really Shook Me Up!

      Midnite: Thnx!

    • lol yeah it was quite weird but i still thought it was pretty cool.

Hmm whats the most disturbing j-horror you guys have ever seen? something that made your toes curl and made you sick …just trying to make convo, lol. Only thing i could think of.

    • Syrina..I have to say “Audition” has had the best affect on my senses..the cheese cutter scene was astounding..and the person in the bag was insane..ha ha …
      The Minister

    • Haha yeah i was so tense that whole scene that when it was over my muscles were sore, lol.

I still have to say that 120 days of sodom is the most disturbing thing i have ever seen in general as a whole movie, however that scene in audition takes the cake for making me queasy, lol. That almost NEVER happens to me, i have a strong stomach but i…[Read more]

    • A Tale of Two Sisters has a sort of haunting beauty to it. Did it all really happen or was she just dreaming ?

    • @theminister, @syrina, For me in ‘Audition’ the puke bowl is what got me. I’m not squeamish in anyway, for some reason that made me cringe. There’s a rumor that it’s real, and not faked.

  • I have seen some quite interesting movies with clowns in, ranging from well known ones such as IT, to lesser known ones like When evil calls or Urban Massacre, all have interesting takes on the popular entertainer. I am curious which films you think have the best or worst clowns and why.

    • i hated kill joy as its too over the top and the 2nd wasnt much better

    • actualy the verry worse must be the camp blood clown …he just never tried to look like a clown he just had a mask ….an unforgetable clown apperence has to be michael myers outfit as h kills his siter …nice tit … or the ultimate klown movie is killer klowns from outer space wich has its own group

    • The Joker is probably my fave but after that I would say Pennywise.

    • the original joker was better than the remake and way back when adam west was batman the joker was eve better ….camper maybe but more eccentric and crazy but the great clown we ull must worship is harly quinn the jester …admit it she is hot and deserves a movie of her own rated 18 uk or r in states

    • Pennywise and The Joker (both Heath and Jack)

    • Ok so the Jack Nicholson joker is miles better than the Heath ledger one. I found he was quite disappointing, particularly heaths joker laugh, it just sounded like he was trying to bring up a hair ball or something.
Anyway, Pennywise is pretty cool too.
      :)

    • Pennywise by far……there are not that many good clowns and those that are are in batman…..that needs to change to horror!!!

    • the clown from drive thru was up there. and then killer klowns from outer space of course. but yes, pennywise takes the cake. and it floats.

    • I love the clowns from “Killer Clowns from Outer Space”. Seems like they’d throw a rockin’ party :D
And of course Pennywise would be invited to that party.

    • i dont know if i would want to go to that party to be honest…..

    • might be lil’ bit offtopic since this whole thing seems to be all about movies but one of my favorite clowns is not from a film but from a game. I’m talking about Sweet Tooth from twisted metal.
I just love his muscles and stuff but yeah Pennywise is hard to win when it comes to movie-clowns.
(I also like the looks of clown zombie from Zombieland)

    • Sweet Tooth should have a movie dedicated to him…..a very sick clown with his own van that can fuck up a tank!!!! good idea!!!!

    • i forgot about that clown in zombieland

and violent j and shaggy kinda count as evil clowns from a movie
i mean they werent exactly evil in big money hustlas…
      but they are wicked clownz

    • what does the zombieland clown have to do with your favorite???

    • well I am glad to see that there are so many clown lovers, was watchin a film called “the secret or the clown” the other day. Has a demon clown in it, goes round killin people, pretty funny stuff. Interesting lookin clown though. pretty good.

    • PENNYWISE FOR LIFE SCAREST CLOWN EVER!

    • no doubt about that!!!! if only that second part of the movie wasnt so….whats the right word…..terrible!!!

    • Sweettooth is the fuckin’ psycho…gotta love’im!

    • I gotta go with the splendidly cast Tim Curry as Pennywise the dancing clown.
He could make me float any time he’d like…

    • My favourite clowns are Pennywise and Captain Spaulding :)

    • Captain Spaulding isnt even a real clown!!!

  • cheluvshorror posted an update in the group Group logo of tim burtontim burton October 18, 2009 5:41 pm

We just bought “Beetlejuice” last night and we had no idea Tim Burton directed this film!!

We cannot wait to watch and laugh our butts off!! Michael Keaton rocks in this film. Its from 1988 and Danny Elfman wrote the music.

I could do a thread on Mr. Elfman alone.:D:cool:

  • So, what’s your favorite episode and why?

Mine’s probably the Grounhog’s Day episode. It’s funny as hell at first the switches up completely and gets dead serious on your ass.

    • Not sure if I can pinpoint one episode but I remember being really into the episodes that got Meg into the series.

    • Roadkill. It oozes atmosphere, and has a wonderful twist. Among its several great horror moments are the (funny) scene with the desiccated, hanging corpse and the scene wherein the woman is yanked through the window.

    • I agree the Groundhog’s Day was probably my favourite, looking forward to season 5!!!

Oh and any episode with Ruby, in any host body, they all fit!!!!!

    • Off the top of my head, Wishful Thinking (if only for the suicidal teddy bear).

    • I loved Wishful Thinking too. I also liked the Lucky Rabbit’s Foot episode.

    • Yeah, “Bad Day At Black Rock” was pretty good too.

    • Probably have to say my fav episode is ‘Hell House’ it’s funny because they play those tricks on eachother but it’s a cool episode as a whole.

    • Hell House is also great.

    • In My Time of Dyeing
      Everybody loves A Clown
Season 4 episode 1 (where he rises from hell)

    • Wow so many great ones from which to choose.
Off the top of my head, Groundhog Day, Bad Day at Black Rock and Ghostfacers.

    • No Rest for the Wicked. I don’t know why, I just love it. Especially when Bobby says, “You’re almost Hell’s bitch. So, you can see Hell’s other bitches.”

    • Up until now I woulda had to choose between a few episodes…but Right now (and this could change next week) I gotta say my favorite was the season closer we all just went through. I’ve never been so shocked by a tv show in my life.

    • It’s a tie between On the Head of a Pin and Hammer of the Gods. They’re both awesome.
