How ’bout one of the directors use a origanal mask, and for the extra scare, put those creepy battery operated glowing red eyes in it. In the dark, it would be really hard to figure out what the thing actually was.

Gimp masks are pretty creepy. When someone’s wearing one in a film (not those types of films!) it really makes them look like a psycho in my opinion.
The films I’m thinking of are The People Under the Stairs and 8mm in which the killers are fairly normal looking people without the mask. I think it would be a good mask for a new slasher.

Maybe a metal helmet type thing that’s similar to something from a suit of armour?
It would have to be modernised and made smaller so that it fits the face perfectly rather than a massive metal thing. You could maybe then use the glowing eyes thing plus it would be impossible to shoot the killer in the head.
