I don’t want to pretend I am his biggest fan but I just watched Edward Scissorhands and it’s a great flick. I don’t think I dislike any of his movies. But it takes me watching one of his movies to realize the guy is a genius at what he does and I don’t know why I forget that.:?

I agree with Oxley that Maniac and TCM 2, I don’t know if it’s true and I don’t listen to rumors a whole lot but the consensus is the guy is an asshole outside the FX spectrum. Can anyone confirm this for me.

Please post any interesting or useless Facts or information, about JAWS or “Porkers” in general. I’m sure you’ll find something you didn’t know:
-The 3 animated one ton sharks were nicknamed Bruce, after Steven Spielberg’s Lawyer.
-During the display in which Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw compare battle scars, Roy Scheider lifts up his shirt…[Read more]

    • When you see Richard Dreyfuss’s character goes in the shark cage, it is not actually him. It is a small person or dwarf, in a shark cage. They did this to make the real sharks in the movie look bigger.

    • Steven Spielberg’s real-life dog played Brody’s dog in the film.

Side Note: Shark Week starts tonight.

    • -The reporter on the beach is Peter Benchly

-Councilman (dark hair blue suit) when they catch the tiger shark is the guy that rewrote the script.

-Also the scene when the shark is rolling on top of the cage that is a real shark that had gotten tangled in the line when a camera crew was filming sharks for the movie.

    • Great post everyone, there is much I didn’t know. But sink your teeth in this quiz. I personally found it challenging.

    • I got an 18/25 on the quiz…if it didn’t have the fill in I would have done better.

    • If it didn’t have the questions I don’t know, I would have too:p

    • 23/25 not bad …. watched it about 7500 times!:?

    • I only got 20/25. Damn.

I guess the 50 or so times I watched this movie weren’t enough. I’m gonna go watch it again!

    • talk about irony! robert shaw was actually drunk during most of the movie, yet they did multiple takes of the scene where they drink on the orca because he kept blowing it.they had to sober him up to act drunk !!

    • its a movie.

    • there is a great documentary of JAWS, and it can only be seen in america! poor me!! they will eventually make a dvd but for now they have to much sold out screens to do that :( I cant wait to see this.. the site for this docu:

In reply to: rogue posted an update in the group Jaws fans i think everything about it really makes it the perfect blockbuster. It’s intense, has great characters, great story and the shark is iconic. View

This is my favorite horror movie, I had seen this back in the early 80′s, and it had such an affect on me and our swimming pool when I was a kid:lol:
Jaws is a great date movie, it is tastefully gory in some scenes, the score is timeless. The humor is clever but doesn’t take over the movie.

Werewolves are my favorite horror movie “monsters”. I really liked Silver Bullet (although the werewolf looked like Teddy Ruxpin with mange) but Wolfen, The Howling, American.., Dog Soldiers was great. The last werewolf movies I seen was Cursed and Never Cry Werewolf. Made for T.V. but watchable. Although Never Cry Werewolf was almost dead on…[Read more]

  • Home On the Range was Disney’s last “traditional” or hand drawn animation film. Do you prefer traditional or CGI? I personally prefer traditional I just feel like the movies are more personal and I am in awe at the talents of past animators.

    • I fuckin’ hate CGI!!! Really…it’s so fuckin’ stupid..this new cartoons….they’re like…trying to be funny…but look so dumb…I think the cartoon should be funny first of all….

    • I totally disagree with you. I don’t think good CGI takes any fun or anything else. Take The Incredibles, or Wall-E or Ratatouille! These are great animation movies, like, for instance Home On The Range couldn’t be. I don’t think CGI is better or worse than hand drawn animation. There are great works and awfull pieces of shit on both techinques

    • HAND DRAWN!!! So much more heart in it, CGI is cold, so damn cold….

    • I’m sorry I repeat myself but have you seen Wall-E or Ratatouille? If there’s something those movies aren’t is cold!

    • I prefer CGI sometimes, but most of the time, I prefer traditional.

    • With CGI getting better, movies are getting worse, but “pretty” so it’s ok? Some shit Pixar does is still good, but come on. I love the CGI technology, but don’t scrimp on story.

    • YEah it’s all about this “pretty” shit! They’re not fuckin’ Funny…WALL-E..it’s fuckin’ CUTE and shit…but the jokes and situations are fuckin’ old as world itself..cartoon is supposed to make your stomach blow up of laughing! And when I see these shrek-like shit it makes me puke! 2D 4 Life! The Ren & Stimpy show is the best!

    • there been classics in both forms.. but i real enjoy the hybrid animation of some of the modern anime

    • I agree, the traditional animation is very nostaglic and has a classic appeal to it, i prefer disney to be traditional, but Pixel does well with CGI …there has been a lot of stinkers but there a few to boast about.

I thought Wall-E was beautifully animated and yes it wasn’t out-right hilarious but it was heartwarming and it was made to pull at…[Read more]

    • I think it depends on the creators to give their creations heart, I’ve seen CGI and trad that was brilliant and some that stunk.

Hannah- Barbera were huge heroes of mine as well. Chuck Jones to add. Chuck had a style like no other, if you look at how Tom and Jerry were drawn and then watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas you will see what I mean. John Kricfalusi also was the first to create cartoons on the internet which was more for adults but talented nonetheless.
