I always liked the sequel. It was a follow up that had a completely different feel to it which was cool.
Speaking of which I was in Santa Monica a coupla days ago and whilst walking along the beach some guy stuck his head out from one of the beach front apartments…it was Gary Busey. :he:

Hell yes ! Predator 2 is a more than worthy sequel in my opinion. It had an overall different feel to the first but I thought it was great that they had the Predator going after gangs. The opening battle is a standout, as are all the other set pieces, especially the meat freezer and subsequent chase across the cityscapes. Bring on the 3rd movie !

It’s a worthy follow-up, not as good as the first movie though. What I like are the new predator weapons. Some of the action scenes are a bit cheesy (the first shootout for example) and the setting; LA 1997 (lol).

Predator 2 while not in the same league as T2 or Aliens etc.. Is still a good film. To cut to the chase, here’s a list of positives and negatives.

[U]Positives[/U]
Adopting an urban setting gave the Predator a lot more slice and dice options, the scenes in the Colombian’s weapon cache,the Jamaican slaughter in the apartment, the subway massacre, and in particular The Slaughterhouse…slaughter?

Expanding Predator mythology, in particular the finale on board the Predator ship, with the trophy cabinet, what appeared to be various breeds of Predator, and the elder Predator showing a sense of sportsmanship.

The wonderfully atmospheric music from the Original being expanded on, incorporating more instruments and doomy choral chants, used to epic effect in scenes such as the King Willy standoff and skull polish.

The claustrophobic suspense of the original was sacrificed by the urban setting.

The Predator get’s owned a bit too easily in this one, by Danny Glover!!? In the original, Arnie got completely fucked up and only defeated the Predator by a spur of the moment opportunity. In this one, Predator gets shot, gets pushed off a building, gets his hand chopped off, and finally gets gut stuck by one of his own weapons, by Danny Fucking Glover!!!??

There’s some pretty wanky attempts at humour, especially the ill advised homage to the classic ” You’re one ugly Motherfucker” line from the original.

Anyway, that’ll do for now.:)

predator 2 was great i accually think it was better than the first

i say yeah, its a good sequel, i love how it was in the city, but the predator got the shit kicked out of it, so, thats a downer
