Originally Carpenter wanted the films to be a trilogy with the third being Escape from the World (or something similar). For some reason, the idea was scrapped and it never happened. I remember when I was hesitant about seeing They Live because it didn’t look that good but loved it when I saw it. I figured it would be the same for Ghosts of Mars. I definitely look forward to this every year. Last years was alright but hopefully they step it up a notch this year (mainly by not showing the sequel to House on Haunted Hill twenty times). Who else here likes it and what do you think should be included in their lineup?
-
I enjoy the AMC Fearfest very much. This year I Think they should take advantage of the Childs play films along with The candyman films.
-
I would love to see a classic slasher line up this time around, Halloween (JC’s ) the first Friday the 13th, Sleep away camp, something really great.

John Carpenter Fans September 1, 2009 6:09 pmSo Carpenter has been MIA for the past 8 years or so and his big comeback is a film entitled The Ward. So far all that is known, to me at least is that its a ghost story about a woman in a asylum and it will be released in 2010. Anyone else know anything about it?
-
All I know at the moment, is that Carpenter is filming it right now. He’s actually making a new film!
-
I’m not finding any updates for this but I’ll keep looking and post what I find. This is going to be great I can’t wait for a true Master of Horror to bring it all back to where it should be.
-
Amen to that, i cant wait for him to make his return.

it’s happening up near like spokane or idaho…was trying to research it on imdbpro….I was there’s a little casting company working on it up there…but pam dixon was casting the bigger roles

I think that it could possibly be cool. It would be interesting to see the events from the Norwegian point of view. I only hope that it remains a prequel. Carpenter made this with his Apocalypse trilogy in mind and I feel that any point of it being a remake could completely undermine that. They should at least keep the ending ambiguous, like…[Read more]

The only advice I would offer: practical effects whenever possible. And a strong cast (although replacing the coolness of Kurt Russell will be a challenge). Other stories based on Carpenter’s version of the flesh-morphing extraterrestrial have been told in videogame and comic book format.

I hope that the people who are writing it up actually care about it and dont completely ruin it like so many people do these days. Isnt McCreadys brother supposed to be the main guy? That just seems like a lame idea to me.

The Fog The Best Horror Film I’ve Ever Seen Besides Halloween
-
‘Halloween’ (1978), is not only my favorite John Carpenter film, but my all time favorite horror film. If I had to choose out of all the movies I love in the genre – this would be my number 1! I know it like the back of my hand! If I was asked to list my all time top ten flicks, then ‘Halloween’ would be in there as my horror choice; no doubt…[Read more]

Halloween by far is my favorite, but all of JC’s films are great.
-
for me i think his best movies besides halloween are the thing, christine, escape from new york, and in the mouth of madness.
-
Dude i grew up on Carpenter, but mainly The Thing, so i have to go with that, with Halloween coming in a very close second.
-
The Thing and They Live tie for me
-
I’d say The Fog. It’s a great (and very old fashioned type) ghost story with a great old fashioned type plot. Halloween is my second favourite by Carpenter, I never have an October 31st without it
-
It’s a toss up between Christine The Thing (remake of course) and Halloween. I also love the Escape from New York and L.A. movies although they are horror.
-
The Thing because it was the first movie to scare and traumatize me!!
-
I have soft spot for The Fog.
-
‘Big Trouble In Little China’ is & will always be my # 1 fav. Carpenter film.
# 2 is ‘Escape from New York’
& # 3 is “Halloween.” -
Halloween followed closely by The Thing, They Live, the Fog, and Prince of Darkness.
Speaking fo which did anyone pick up the John Carpenter Master of Fear set. It has The Thing/THey Live/Prince Of Darkness/Village of the Damned. The films are great quality, no features but 4 Carpenter films for 14 bucks. Its a must have.
-
Halloween and The Thing are neck and neck there both amazing films without a dout. I own alot of John Carpenter films my favorite one’s for that matter like They Live, Prince Of Darkness, Escape From New York and In The Mouth Of Madness.
-
Big Trouble In Little China.
-
Top 5 Carpenter films
1.Halloween
2.The Thing
3.The Fog
4.Prince Of Darkness
5.Christine -
I would love to say something different but it has got to be Halloween, closely followed by The Fog.
-
I also can’t stop watching Dark Star. It’s so goofy and offbeat. And Dan O’Bannon is hilarious as Pinback.
-
Halloween 1978 and The Fog 1980!!
-
The Thing is without a doubt his best in my opinion….it’s my favorite movie ever so of course I think its JC’s best
-
1. The Thing (fave horror movie ever!)
2. Halloween
3. In The Mouth of Madness (underrated!) -
I go back and forth over Halloween and The Thing. Both are terrific, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pick one over the other. Prince of Darkness is also a big favorite.
-
HALLOWEEN obviously is my favorite but THE FOG & ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK are right behind it.i watch them constantly !!
-
The Thing and Escape from New York!! Dark horse is Prince of Darkness (not a fan fave I know but there’s just something about it I like)

I completely agree with that, Cigarette Burns was his best out of the two. Not just that but I really think it gave him the feel that he wanted to get back behind the camera.
Yeah, Cigarette Burns definitely. I thought it had more of that JC-factor than Pro-Life did.
Cigarette Burns. It was amazing. I wish they showed at least some of the film.
Cigarette Burns. John Carpenter + Norman Reedus = GOLD
Yes, have to go with ‘Cigarette Burns’, ‘Pro-Life’ is good sure, just not even close by comparison.
I really hated Pro Life. :/
But Cigarette Burns is the best episode of both seasons and its just awesome.
