It’s interesting that you mention ‘Monkey’s Paw’. I haven’t read it but there is a rather long scene in the film where the main character is telling a story to his family about a child with a monkey that he came across whilst at war. It seemed quite strange and out of place. Perhaps it’s some sort of reference to this?
