Vincent Price’s VHS Collection is Up For Auction

Published

on

While there’s been a big resurgence in vinyl over the past few years, VHS has yet to have that second life. In fact, it’s pretty much safe to say that the medium is, for all intents and purposes, quite dead. But that doesn’t stop people from buying used tapes at garage sales, flea markets, online, or in other places. And while I personally don’t do it anymore – although I once had quite the collection – I can understand those that find joy in a VHS tape. There’s certainly a dated charm to it, not to mention the nostalgia factor. So, in the interest of those people, the collectors, I want to turn you on to a really cool thing happening on eBay right now.

Seller 3dogreiner has somehow managed to get their hands on the VHS collection of legendary actor Vincent Price and is auctioning them off one at a time. 3dogreiner states that each tape will come, “…with a letter of authenticity from Vincent Price’s daughter.” Furthermore, some of the tapes, “…have notations by Vincent himself.

Price is known for his roles in a swath of horror films, portraying characters such as Eramus (a Dracula-esque character), Dr. Phibes, the Devil, and many more. His appearances in films such as The House on Haunted Hill, The Fly, Edward Scissorhands, and a wide range of films inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, showed that he was a charismatic, animated, and delightful thespian. His iconic voice also served as the introductory narration for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.

The full list of items from Price’s estate can be found on eBay.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
