Kevin Smith’s ‘Yoga Hosers’ Lands Summer Release Date

Published

on

The newly launched Invincible Pictures has landed the distribution rights for the horror/comedy Yoga Hosers (review), the latest film from writer/director/actor Kevin Smith. They will be releasing the film in theaters on July 29th, although a few cities will see the movie in advance via a tour with Smith. The dates for that can be seen below, courtesy of Variety.

This news comes just after Smith found out that the film, originally rated R, had been bumped down to a PG-13 rating for unknown reasons.

The description of the film is rather…interesting. The site writes that Harley Quinn Smith and Lily Rose-Depp, “…play 15-year-old yoga enthusiasts who hate their after-school jobs at a Manitoba convenience store. They team with Depp’s manhunter character to battle an ancient evil.

The movie additionally stars Austin Butler, Tyler Posey, Ralph Garman, Jason Mewes and Johnny Depp, who reprises his role as “Guy Lapointe” from 2014’s Tusk.

Tour dates:
6/1 – New Orleans, LA at the Joy Theater
6/2 – Ponte Vedra, FL at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall
6/6 – Houston, TX at The Houston Improv
6/12 – Columbus, OH at Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse
7/8 – Durham, NC at The Carolina Theatre
7/12 – San Jose, CA at The Improv
7/17 – San Francisco, CA at Cobbs Comedy Club

Matilda Firth Joins the Cast of Director Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ Movie

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
