See Various BTS FX Tests From ‘Alien: Resurrection’, Including the Acid Face Effect!

Alien: Resurrection is a movie that I really want to defend and enjoy but there are a lot of issues with it. Perhaps the most glaring problem I’ve always felt was that it just didn’t feel like an Alien film. It’s a bit too glossy and quirky, which is definitely a style that director Jean-Pierre Jeunet utilizes (and I love in his other movies). It was also batshit crazy, really talking the idea of the “birthing” of Xenomorphs to a whole new level. But I can’t argue that the movie had some interesting concepts and some fun nods to the other films. It’s obviously my least favorite of the original four but that doesn’t mean I won’t watch it every now and again.

But one thing that I love about the film is that there are some great practical FX done throughout. Yes, some CGI was employed (those swimming xenomorphs…) but, for the most part, there was some really solid practical FX employed throughout. And to give you a taste of some of those effects, Studio ADI has released a behind-the-scenes video that goes into some of the creations they employed for the film.

If you had to rank the Alien films (not including the AvP ones), what would your ranking look like? Tell us in the comments!
