Michael Sheen Becomes the ‘Green River Killer’
Underworld‘s Michael Sheen will make his feature directorial debut on and star in QC Entertainment’s crime thriller Green River Killer, reports Variety.
Sheen will portray the serial killer Gary Ridgway, who pleaded guilty in 2003 to 48 charges of first-degree murder of women in the state of Washington during the 1980s and 1990s. He was spared the death penalty in exchange for cooperation in locating the victims. Check out a documentary on him below.
“The film tells the story of the relationship between Tom Jensen, who spent two decades looking for the Green River Killer, and Ridgway. The two men were forced to live and work together in a dark alliance to uncover the truth.”
Sheen will direct from his own screenplay, which was named to the Black List in 2015 and is adapted from the Dark Horse Entertainment’s graphic novel “Green River Killer: A True Detective Story.” The book, which won the Eisner Award, was written by Jeff Jensen and based on his father, Tom Jensen, and artist Jonathan Case.
“This is a dark story but one that ultimately finds hope and meaning in that darkness,” Sheen said. “The story of Tom and Gary, and how they are bound together in time, pulled me in from the beginning and wouldn’t let go. I hope that by now bringing it to life on screen, it can make audiences feel the same way.”
QC Entertainment is producing and financing. Producers are Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg, Sheen, and QC Entertainment’s Sean McKittrick and Ray Mansfield. QC’s Edward H. Hamm Jr. and Shaun Redick will serve as executive producers.

Monkey Man is currently 88% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with Bloody Disgusting’s head critic Meagan Navarro awarding the film 4.5/5 stars in her review out of SXSW back in March.
Meagan raves, “While the violence onscreen is palpable and painful, it’s not just the exquisite fight choreography and thrilling action set pieces that set Monkey Man apart but also its political consciousness, unique narrative structure, and myth-making scale.”

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
