Not at all what I imagined Roland looking like but Elba is a great actor so I’ll give him (and the production) the benefit of the doubt.

I still think this should have been an HBO mini-series similar to Game of Thrones.

So, if Roland is black, Detta has no real reason to hate him…

Sadly there are many more prejudices beyond skin colour to bandy about. So her hate will not lost.

It won’t be, but… how can I put it – the whole point of Detta/Odetta transformation is that Detta has all the reasons to hate and non of the reasons to relate (basicly, Roland and Eddie – espesially Roland – represent everything, Detta despises and fears). She was about to commit double murder for the first time in her life, so she had to be pushed to the limit :).

I repeat my first post. Her reasons to hate and despise will simply be based on something else.

      • CB Punk

He’s right, all of that takes place in the beginning of the third book. I no longer have any hope for this movie.

the wastelands could be a great start into the universe of the gunslinger.. no need to start with the gunslinger or the drawing.. at least i hope so 😉

I was about to blast you but then I realized this was sarcasm.

From what I gather they are combining the first two books. Been years since I read them but if my memory is correct book one would make like what a 45 min movie?

    • Youri Gavrilov

      “Gunslinger” is a 75-80min movie
“Drawning Of The Three” – 2 hour movie
      “The Wastelands” – 2 hour 50 min
“The Wizard And The Glass” – 3 Hour or more

All the rest are 3-4 hours depending on the accuracy.

  • I feel like novel purists are going to loathe this with how much will be changed to suit the medium. I’m still really curious to see it unfold though.
