Video From the Set of ‘Blair Witch’!

Lionsgate has released b-roll footage from the set of Blair Witch, in theaters September 16.

The below video gives us a rare glimpse at the set of the top secret project and shows all the cool cameras used by director Adam Wingard to pull of the first-person POV vibe.

In Wingard’s Blair Witch, penned by Simon Barrett, “A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson star.

Here’s a blurb from my review:

” ‘Blair Witch’ is that game-changer horror fans desperately have been waiting for. It will usher in a new breed of genre films that are targeted at creating an emotional experience above all else. “Scary” is probably an understatement as this may just be the first film since ‘The Exorcist’ that will leave younger audiences scarred for life.”

Anything spoilery in it? I’ve made the mistake of watching B-rolls that reveal way too much

No spoilers. Just shows different types of cameras/camera work. No sound either.

  • I’ve been trying to “play along” with some of the viral marketing they’ve been doing. So far there’s not much to go off of but they keep alluding to people getting “too close to the truth” and a “cover up”. Surely Blair Witch isn’t going to go all TCM: Next Generation and introduce some Men in Black.

I think it’s more of covering up the mysterious disappearances that have happened in those woods after what happened to Heather, Mike, and Josh than something like that. Just trying to pretend that nothing’s going on to prevent another hoopla like what happened after the first film.

      • That makes sense but it’s where they say they’re not disappearances but abductions that make me wonder. On the one hand, I feel like some grand Blair Witch conspiracy (even if it is just cover up) could be exciting and leave a lot of room for future sequels, but it seems so left field from what we already know. Granted, we really don’t know much.

        • Vader the White

Well, a disappearance and an abduction can be the same thing. And what would you call it if the Blair Witch captured someone?
I don’t think it’s really a big, elaborate conspiracy, just a small cover up of mysterious phenomenon by local law enforcement wanting things to be normal. Even cover up actually feels to strong, more like plugging their fingers in their ears going, “La la la la la, I can’t hear you, la la la la la, there’s no strange things going on, la la la la la!”

          • Well, this is exactly the conversation they want us to be having. So, job well done Lionsgate marketing department. 🙂
