Momentum Pictures Nabs ‘Brimstone’ Starring Guy Pearce

Momentum Pictures announced today that it has acquired North American rights to the western/thriller Brimstone.

The film, which first premiered in September at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews, is written and directed by Martin Koolhoven. It stars Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire), Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential), Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”), Carice van Houten (“Game of Thrones”) and Emilia Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides).

Momentum Pictures will be releasing Brimstone in theaters and on VOD in March 2017.

“Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce’s strong performances truly capture the work and vision of filmmaker Martin Koolhoven,” said Goggins. “We couldn’t be more proud to release Brimstone so that audiences can experience this amazing piece of cinema.”

Brimstone tells the story of a frontier woman turn fugitive when she is wrongly accused of a crime she didn’t commit and is hunted by a vengeful preacher.

Brimstone is produced by Els Vandevorst (Dogville) and Uwe Schott (Cloud Atlas). Coproduced by Paul Trijbits, Antonino Lombardo, Manuel Chiche and Peter Hiltunen.

‘Mountain Man’ – Joe Manganiello Will Battle Zombies in Upcoming Horror Movie

Keith C. Blackmore’s book series Mountain Man is headed to the screen, with Deadline reporting today that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is on board to star in the film adaptation.

The actor will also produce the upcoming zombie movie.

Mountain Man tells the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the ever-present specter of a zombie attack, who struggles with alcohol abuse and suicidal thoughts until he discovers another survivor, a captivating woman who poses another threat altogether.”

John Lee (False Positive) will direct Mountain Man from a script by Matt Deller.

“John is a brilliant creative mind. We’ve been looking for the right thing to do together since we filmed Pee Wee’s Big Holiday and it’s finally here,” 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello told Deadline. “Very excited to get to work on such weird, wild project with him.”

Film Bridge International is launching sales on the project in Cannes.

Blackmore’s Mountain Man series features 7 books, the first one published in 2011.
