Jaden Smith Claims He Was a Vampire But Isn’t Anymore

Published

Jaden Smith, the son of mega blockbuster actor Will Smith, is known for his eccentric style and wild, often nonsensical statements (perfect example). Personally, I don’t really care what the kid wears or what he says but a lot of people seem to thrive on seeing what strange sayings come from this budding philosopher, which is we’re going to talk about his latest admission that came about during an interview with French magazine Numero.

Talking with the magazine, Smith proclaimed, “During a period of my life, I was Gothic… I was only wearing black and I was hiding from the sun because I was a vampire.” Apparently this also led to him wearing black trench coats and avoiding direct contact with sunlight as much as possible. But if you thought this was something to be concerned about and that we needed to gather bulbs of garlic, a few wooden stakes, and maybe call up Simon Belmont for some backup, fear not. “Now I’m not a vampire, I’m out of this phase… I open myself up to wear more colorful things, to go out in daylight. I share much more mixed energy,” the young actor admits.

WHEW! Thank fucking Christ for that!

Look, I’m all for admitting that we go through phases in our life. Hell, I did the whole goth thing during high school. I had the long black trench coat, I wore steel-toe boots, I listened to pretty much nothing but angsty metal and weird industrial/goth electronica, and I even had those black pants with zippers all over them (none of which led to anything except for the fly) from Hot Topic. But was I a vampire? Fuck no! I was a kid going through something that felt right at the time. I didn’t enter any sort of delusion of grandeur whereupon I thought I was some sort of mythical romantic creature. Jeez Jaden, get ahold of yourself.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
