‘Feast’, ‘Saw’ Writers Handed Massive Fantasy Series
Writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the minds behind the Feast franchise and a number of SAW sequels were just announced as adapting Brandon Sanderson’s massive fantasy tome “The Way of Kings“. For those who aren’t familiar with the book, it is in the “epic fantasy” genre and arguably grander in scale than Game of Thrones or even “The Lord of the Rings”.
Their gig was announced as part of one of the largest literary deals in recent memory, where DMG Entertainment grabbed film and licensing rights to Sanderson’s “Cosmere,” which includes the massively popular “Stormlight Archive” series of books of which “Kings” is the first.
Variety reports that DMG are fast tracking production on the fantasy series, committing $270 million – half of what’s needed to complete the first three movies adapted from Sanderson’s work.
More as it comes, folks!
