‘Sadako vs. Kayako’ Trailer Brings the Battle of J-horror’s Best Spooks to Shudder

Sadako Vs. Kayako

Arriving on Shudder in the US, UK, and Canada on January 26th is Sadako vs Kayako (read our review; additional review here), which pits the horror icons from both The Ring and The Grudge franchises in an epic battle along the lines of Freddy vs Jason.

Grotesque director Koji Shiraishi is behind the camera with Mizuki Yamamoto caught in the middle of the two battling horror icons.

After viewing a legendary cursed videotape, Natsumi discovers she has only two days before she will be killed by the demonic entity known as Sadako. The only solution: pitting the demon Sadako against Kayako, an accursed spirit possessing a haunted house where everyone who enters disappears.

Ju-On: The Final, billed as the final Ju-On, opened in Japan June 2015, while Sam Raimi is producing a re-remake here in the States.

Here’s the official U.S trailer for Sadako vs. Kayako, which looks like a subtitled version of the previously released one out of Japan.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.

If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
