This time on WORLD OF DEATH we cross the ocean to check out two very unsettling films from Kazakhstan and Japan, and get two very different looks at torture.
In Alexander Medvedev’s DETERRENT, a serial killer meets his match when he discovers a woman who cannot be killed. Medvedev gives us a look inside the killer’s head as he agonizes over a typewriter, out of ideas, out of time. I could see this film getting the feature length treatment. A man with a twisted secret, going about his every day, haunted by the thing trapped in his basement.
Next in TAG by Shane Ryan, a girl is haunted by the ghost of her little sister, who’s mental and physical torture allows the memory of what really happened to her surface. This film deals with the notions of grief, guilt, and redemption. And has a few moments that will make it quite difficult for me to sleep tonight!
Remember to share these with your friends. Or else…
