Intense ’47 Meters Down’ Trailer Has Serious Bite! (‘In the Deep’)

Published

on

Back in 2014 Dimension Films acquired 47 Meters Down, which stars Mandy Moore and Claire Holt as a pair of cage-diving sisters whose boat breaks away from them, leaving them in an observation cage trapped at the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by hungry Great Whites.

Dimension Films then announced a home video release (Aug. 2, 2016), while also renaming it to In the Deep, bizarrely the original title to this summer’s other shark survival film, The Shallows.

Just a week before its release, Freestyle Media acquired the film with plans to release in 2,500 theaters sometime in 2017.

Physical copies did leak into the market place (you can find them on Amazon by second hand sellers) as copies were sent to retailers and press (here’s my positive review of the film).

While we wait for an official U.S. release, the film has begun its international tour, which resulted in the first trailer making its way online. It’s an excellent trailer that has serious bite, honing in on the claustrophobic terror Moore and Holt have to go through.

47 Meters Down is directed by Johannes Roberts (The Other Side of The Door), and stars Mandy Moore (“This Is Us,” A Walk To Remember), Claire Holt (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals”), Yani Gellman (“Pretty Little Liars,” “The Young And The Restless”), and Matthew Modine (Full Metal JacketThe Dark Knight Rises).

“ ‘In The Deep/47 Meters Down’ dives into a world of two sisters (Mandy Moore and Claire Holt) who become trapped at the bottom of the ocean when a diving expedition to observe sharks goes horribly wrong. When the cable attaching the observation cage to the boat breaks and the cage sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the sisters must figure out a way to get back to safety battling injuries, lack of oxygen, and, worst of all, blood thirsty, great white sharks.”

“Soooo… everybody’s dead. How about we start at the beginning,” Channing Tatum narrates the opening moments of the trailer for Blink Twice, which debuted online today.

Directed by Zoë Kravitz (The Batman), and formerly titled Pussy Island, MGM’s upcoming Blink Twice will be released only in theaters August 23, we’ve learned this afternoon.

Watch the official trailer below to begin this strange murder-mystery party.

Naomi Ackie stars alongside Channing Tatum in Blink Twice, with the film’s impressive ensemble cast of familiar faces also including Kyle MacLachlan, Adria Arjona, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, and Geena Davis.

In Blink Twice, “Tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, and sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time.

“No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.”

Kravitz wrote the script alongside E.T. Feigenbaum.
