A few weeks ago the full cast of Victor Salva’s Jeepers Creepers 3 revealed that the great Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape From New York, Swamp Thing, Creepshow) would be playing a character named ‘Gaylen Brandon’.
Interestingly enough, Barbeau tells her Facebook following that she’s no longer appearing.
Two things that I find immensely interesting: first, she has read the script, confirming she was in fact in the mix for a role; second, my 100% reliable source tells me that she’s still listed on the call sheets (confirming she was actually cast). This has me scratching my head in confusion…is she still in the movie, yet denying it? Or maybe she changed her mind and walked from the role for an unknown reason (ahem).
Speaking of… just speculating here… but there’s a lot of backlash brewing online regarding Jeepers Creepers 3, which is now filming Baton Rouge. It’s no secret that Victor Salva, the director of all three films, is a convicted child molester. In fact, there’s online protests and petitions that have erupted since production commenced. Could it be that Barbeau learned of Salva’s history and wanted nothing to do with it? It’s possible.
The following petition is gaining quite a bit of traction:
Jeepers Creepers 3 is currently in production. The director and creator of this franchise, Victor Salva, used his position to rape a 12 year old boy in 1988 during the filming of the movie Clownhouse. He was convicted and served a measly 15 months in prison. As the three largest movie theater chains in the US, I urge you to not show this movie at your theaters. The profits from Jeepers Creepers 3 line the pockets of a pedophile. Monsters belong on the screen, not behind the camera. I also urge other members of the horror movie community to take a stance. Spread the word and don’t watch this film!
As we continue to share: We at Bloody Disgusting acknowledge and condemn the crimes committed by Victor Salva, but we also do not believe it is our place to filter the news and will continue to deliver Jeepers Creepers headlines. We leave it up to you to decide if you will support his films or not, and you can read our stance on the subject here.
