A24’s ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ Sounds Pretty Sinister

No matter the subject matter, nearly all of A24’s releases end up being pretty dark genre films. The next one is pretty interesting, especially since it stars both Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman.

After having its world premiere in Competition at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, A24 will release Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer on November 3, 2017 in limited release.

Also starring Alicia Silverstone and Bill Camp, THR shared an extended synopsis that piqued our interest:

In the psychological revenge thriller, Farrell plays a successful surgeon who attempts to integrate a teenager into his family, but when the teen’s actions grow increasingly sinister, the doctor is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice.

It sounds pretty dark and something the company behind The Witch, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Ex Machina, Tusk, Under the Skin, and even The Monster would release.

A24 is a great production even with their mishaps *cough cough* The witch, (overhyped flick) the monster (just simply put its garbage) Under the skin I gotta watch it again I was really sleepy when I was watching it the first time and you need really paid attention. Even into the forest was freakin stupid. But they do have a heavy dose of amazing. You can’t have everything great and what one person hates another loves. But this sound’s awesome. I hope it will.

Disagree about The Witch. One of the best horror films in years.

Both “The Witch” and “Under the Skin” are 10/10 for me. Two recent masterpieces. The best horror of 2016 and the best from 2014, respectively. “The monster” have a strong performance from Zoe Kazan.

Under the skin I gotta rewatch it again. And zoe was actually good in it but the flick it’s self I felt was weak. Did you see The Lobster ? if not check that out that’s a excellent movie.

Still have to check The Lobster, but unfortunately I’ve got a huge spoiler reading a article. But I’ll check anyway. 😉

Damn that sucks. Well even if it was spoiled for you, I hope you still watch it. I went into that flick not knowing anything all I knew was people go to some place to die and become animals or some shit. And was like ok this is all I need to know, what I got was a twist little fucked up flick. Which could be quite fitting for horror. IDK why it wasn’t covered much as a horror flick. It surly had the elements. Also check out A Cure For Wellness when it comes out. Also a very awesome movie. reminded me of those Italian movies from the 70’s and 80s.

      • I think in The Monster the girl completely ousthines Zoe

I enjoyed Into the Forest actually. Evan Rachel Wood was amazing and it wasn’t perfect but the story was told with affecting sensitivity.

It started off pretty good then half way lost steam. I do agree with you that Evan rachel wood was good. She’s become quite the actress, since her starting role in thirteen.

  • Matt Miller

After he made “The lobster” I’m pretty excited for what he does. Also Dogtooth was really dark and disturbing in an absurd way.

    • zombie84_41

The lobster is amazing. And Dogtooth was all kind’s of fucked up LOL.

  • After watching Big Little Lies, i have to say Nicole Kidman is one of the greatest actresses right now, so im here for her in a horror/thriller
