Jennifer Lawrence Rips Her Heart Out on Darren Aronofsky’s ‘mother!’ Poster

One of this year’s biggest surprises was that Darren Aronofsky had secretly directed a psychological horror film in the vein of Black SwanTitled mother!, which is infinity fun to say aloud, the all-star cast includes Jennifer Lawrence, who is shown on the first poster tearing out her own heart! Happy Mother’s Day indeed.

Back in March, Paramount Domestic Distribution chief Kyle Davies told the CinemaCon crowd to expect “thrills and chills” from mother!, which has an October 13th release date. In the film…

A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Michelle PfeifferDomnhall GleesonEd Harris and Kristen Wiig.

Aronofsky wrote the script and produced.

I was hoping Darren would bounce back after Noah. I loved The Wrestler and Black Swan.

      Noah was great.

      • Bart Crowe

I should have been more clear because I was referring to how it bombed pretty hard in theaters not the quality.

Fair enough! It was a hard line to walk… I think most non-religious people probably had no interest in seeing it (unless they know film and are aware of Aronofsky and watched it for that reason, like me), then on the other hand conservative religious people were turned off by it because it was deemed too crazy/blasphemous by them (even though the stuff the complained about, like the giant rock angel things are actually in the Noah story in the old testament). Kinda destined to be a commercial flop :/

I’m happy hes making more movies The Fountain is my all time fav.

  • Biscoito18

Gorgeous poster! I like the little details like a door knob inside a flower and the little picture of a man close to it.

  • Charlie

Whoa, this could be awesome. Aronofsky is great.

  • Cheshire TrollCat

This poster excites me VERY MUCH. It’s beautiful and horrifying at the same time. Such art, much meaning.

  • ShadowInc

I’m find Laurence a bit cloying, but I’ll check it out because an Aronofsky flick is usually worth taking a look at.

  • MaryMaria

Gorgeous, gorgeous! And what a great cast. Definitely looking forward to this one!

Lawrence irritates me big time. i liked her in HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET and the first HUNGER GAMES but ever since then (especially after she won the Oscar) she just seems to be extremely full of herself. she was horrible as Mystique in the XMEN films IMO. i do like Aronofsky though and will check this film out DESPITE Lawrence being in it.

    • Creepshow

The reason she may have been horrible as Mystique, is because most of the time she was playing as Jennifer Lawrence.

  • Stefan Heikel

This poster reminds me of an RL Stine book cover but in a good way. Can’t wait for a trailer to premier!!!

  • jurgmandr

the poster reminds me of the frida kahlo painting with her heart on the outside

  • Stergios

Simply fantastic. Everything related to the film thus far, from plot and tone info to this breathtakingly gorgeous work of art of a poster points to this being a grand return for Darren Aronofsky to the dark, psychological horror he knows how to deliver so well. And his team up with Jennifer Lawrence and such an astonishing cast surrounding her fills me with excitement as well.

  • Alex Harbie

I wish that poster was a metaphor for the ending of her career. She’s way too overpaid and overrated. Could used some of that money for better actors/actresses and better horror movies.

    • Jesse Sikora

She’s a great actress, seems like a cool person too!!

      • Grither 57

People who hate on Jennifer Lawrence so aggressively are basically just grumpy.

      • Alex Harbie

Meh? How would you know? I guess those manufactured interviews really convinced you otherwise huh. Good for you cupcake.

  • Athe pi

    howdy folks. this looks radderific

  • ixlplk

With a poster like that, the movie BETTER deliver.

    • Eddie Dutra

Sadly it won’t, it has Jennifer Lawrence in it.
