‘Polaroid’ Trailer Developed, Mixes ‘Final Destination’ with ‘Lights Out’

You won’t want to shake this Polaroid picture.

While we wait for Dimension Films to release the latest Amityville Horror, they’ve set an December 1, 2017, date for Lars Klevberg’s hotly anticipated Polaroid, which now has a trailer. The footage reminds me of the terrifying Thai horror film Shutter, while also channeling the James Wan-produced Lights Out, also based on a short. The biggest connection to our horror roots, however, comes in the revealed device that a shadow within the polaroids dictates who will die next, which sounds like something out of a Final Destination film. While the trailer does remind us of some other horror classics, it also looks really well made and extremely fun. This summer is looking frightening! What do you think?

Polaroid stars Kathryn Prescott (The Hive), Mitch Pileggi (“The X-Files”), Grace Zabriskie (The Grudge), Tyler Young (Eyewitness), Keenan Tracey (“Bates Motel”), Samantha Logan (The Fosters), Priscilla Quintana (Stranded), Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale”) and Javier Botet (Mama).

High school loner Bird Fitcher (Prescott) has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.

The film is produced by Roy Lee (The Ring, Blair Witch) and Chris Bender (The Ring, The History of Violence). Written by Blair Butler, it’s based on the short by Lars Klevberg.

“Soooo… everybody’s dead. How about we start at the beginning,” Channing Tatum narrates the opening moments of the trailer for Blink Twice, which debuted online today.

Directed by Zoë Kravitz (The Batman), and formerly titled Pussy Island, MGM’s upcoming Blink Twice will be released only in theaters August 23, we’ve learned this afternoon.

Watch the official trailer below to begin this strange murder-mystery party.

Naomi Ackie stars alongside Channing Tatum in Blink Twice, with the film’s impressive ensemble cast of familiar faces also including Kyle MacLachlan, Adria Arjona, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, and Geena Davis.

In Blink Twice, “Tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, and sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time.

“No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.”

Kravitz wrote the script alongside E.T. Feigenbaum.
