All the Coolest Shots From the Terrifying ‘IT’ Trailer!

We cannot get enough.

The new trailer for Andy Muschietti’s IT took the internet by storm yesterday afternoon, treating us with tons of terrifying new footage of Pennywise and giving us a better feel for the new Losers’ Club. Honestly, I already love these kids. And I’m totally sold on Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

Furthermore, I’m pretty much sold on everything about this new adaptation. When Cary Fukunaga departed the project a while back, I admit to losing a whole lot of interest. But I’m now pretty damn convinced that the film was always meant for Andy Muschietti (Mama) to direct.

Muschietti put together an all-star team both behind the camera and in front of it, hiring Chung-hoon Chung (Oldboy) as the Director of Photography (that explains why the movie LOOKS so damn good) and bringing Steven Kostanski (The Void) and Tom Woodruff Jr. (Aliens, The Monster Squad) aboard the makeup effects crew.

A recipe for the adaptation King’s novel deserves? It’s damn sure looking like it.

We broke down the entire trailer into a gallery of high-res screen grabs for you, which you’ll find below. Keep your eyes peeled for a tribute to the 1990 version of Pennywise!

In the new adaptation…

A group of young kids face their biggest fears when they seek answers to the disappearance of children in their hometown of Derry, Maine. They square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

The kids in peril, the Losers’ Club, include Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Nicholas Hamilton plays Henry Bowers. The cast also includes Owen Teague, who plays bully Patrick Hocksetter. Bill Skarsgard is our new Pennywise.

The film will be in theaters September 8, 2017.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Dead Mail SXSW Dead Mail interview

One of the genre films we’re looking forward to checking out at SXSW this year is Dead Mail, written and directed by Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy and premiering on March 9.

Meagan Navarro will be reviewing Dead Mail for Bloody Disgusting as part of her SXSW coverage, and she writes in her preview for the upcoming fest: “Dead Mail leans heavily into the ’80s analog aesthetic, delivering a unique crime thriller unafraid to get offbeat with its dark narrative. Expect its characters to be as atypical as Dead Mail‘s sense of style.”

In the SXSW 2024 horror film…

“On a desolate, Midwestern county road, a bound man crawls towards a remote postal box, managing to slide a blood-stained plea-for-help message into the slot before a panicking figure closes in behind him. The note makes its way to the county post office and onto the desk of Jasper, a seasoned and skilled “dead letter” investigator, responsible for investigating lost mail and returning it to its sender. As he investigates further, Jasper meets Trent, a strange yet unassuming man who has taken up residence at the men’s home where Jasper lives.

“When Trent unexpectedly shows up at Jasper’s office, it becomes clear he has a vested interest in the note, and will stop at nothing to retrieve it…”

Sterling Macer, Jr., John Fleck, Susan Priver, Micki Jackson, Tomas Boykin, and Nick Heyman star in Dead Mail. Preview the film with an exclusive image gallery below.
