I’m a huge fan of Chris Kentis’ 2003 micro-indie Hitchcockian thriller Open Water, which is based on the true story of two scuba divers who are accidentally stranded in shark infested waters after their tour boat has left.
In 2006, Hans Horn’s deep sea horror was rebranded as Open Water 2: Adrift. Now, distributors are rebranding Cage Dive as the third film in the ongoing home video franchise.
Lionsgate has set an August 11, 2017, release (that’s today!) for Gerald Rascionato’s first-person shark movie Open Water 3 Cage Dive. In addition to the previously released trailer, we have a new clip in which a news reporter sets up the conflict: a tidal wave has left cage divers stranded in the ocean.
Cage Dive follows three American tourists making an audition tape of a shark cage dive for a reality TV show. A catastrophic turn of events leaves them stranded in the waters of South Australia surrounded by hungry great white sharks.
