New Look at Ellen Page Zombie Film ‘The Cured’

A disease that turned people into zombies has been cured!

Bloody Disgusting has even more brand new images of Ellen Page (Hard Candy) in the post-Zombie-era drama The Cured, which is now screening at the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival.

In Irish director David Freyne‘s directorial debut, “The film unfolds in the aftermath of a devastating virus which transformed the infected into zombie-like monsters. Mankind is struggling to rebuild societies deeply divided between the uninfected and those who did succumb to the virus and are still haunted by their violent actions. In the backdrop, the rise of a terrorist movement threatens to plunge the world into chaos again.

Freyn directed from his own screenplay developed out of proof of concept prequel short The First Wave. Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor also star.

This movie looks and sounds excellent.

“This movie looks and sounds excellent” I heard the same bullshit (not from this site) about ‘The Girl With All the Gifts’ and that was terrible in my opinion! I try to give anything an honest chance so we’ll see.

for the most part i liked GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS. the “feral” infected/zombie children were silly though. LOL.

I just watched this last night. I didn’t think it was very good.

Just watched that recently as well, but I quite liked it, in a gory meets Hallmark special kind of way.

    Oh….Ellen Page*clicks off article*
If you say her or Kristen Stewart or Jennifer Lawrence are in a film you’ve just guaranteed me not watching it.

They’re crying themselves softly to sleep, trust me.

        I agree

Cool. Echoes of “The Returned” in here, with a side order of Daylighters.

i finally sat my butt down and watched season 2 of Les Revenants. it wasn’t as good as season 1 but i still enjoyed it. i have never watched the American remake (although i love Mary Elizabeth Winstead). is it worth watching? i did love season 1 of Resurrection too (season 2 was meh…).

And I, in turn, need to watch Les Revenants! I haven’t seen the 2015 American show actually, but there is a 2013 Movie of the same name, that didn’t get a whole lot of fanfare, that was kind of interesting. This one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2093270/

i admit i hadn’t read the movie’s synopsis until just now but it’s exactly the synopsis for the great zombies-now-cured English tv show IN THE FLESH (including a terrorist faction who wants to restart the zombie apocalypse). i’m still excited for the movie though!

    • I had the same reaction. As a big fan of the series, I’m interested to see how this film does or does not distinguish itself. I’ll let you know when my TIFF coverage for BD begins next week!

      • J Jett

definitely! will you be posting info or a review of the film here at BD? i’m looking forward to reading your reviews!

        • Great to hear! I’m doing a bunch of reviews. The films at TIFF this year look great, too, so that’s even more exciting
