Grab Onto Something, This ’78/52′ Poster is Awesome [Exclusive]

The documentary’s title refers to the number of setups (78) and the number of cuts (52) in the notorious shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s horror masterpiece.

Rather than focusing on the film as a whole, Alexandre Philippe’s documentary 78/52 shines the spotlight on just one Psycho scene in particular. The stabbing death of a showering Marion Crane is one of the most iconic in the history of cinema, and the doc dives deep into its creation.

“The documentary explores the scene from multiple angles, focusing on its complicated technical aspects and its huge impact on the culture and the future of movies.”

Bloody Disgusting has the world exclusive poster premiere for this riveting doc that IFC Midnight will release in theaters, VOD, and on all digital platforms October 13, 2017.

78/52 features a lengthy list of interviewees, including Guillermo del Toro, Peter Bogdanovich, Elijah Wood, Bret Easton Ellis, Neil Marshall, Danny Elfman, Karyn Kusama, Apocalypse Now editor Walter Murch, Janet Leigh’s actress daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, and Anthony Perkins’ filmmaker son, Osgood Perkins.

This might be a stupid question, but…why did they use a dude’s hand?

    • Troy

It’s actually not a dude’s hand. When a hand is clenched and the muscles are tense, it makes the hand look more masculine even when it’s a woman’s hand.
