New ‘Leatherface’ Clip Abducted Ahead of VOD Release

Taking place years before the events of both Texas Chainsaw 3D and the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s Leatherface (read our review) dives deep into the troubled family life that turned a young Leatherface into a brutal monster. We get up close and personal with Verna Carson Sawyer in the film, the big guy’s mother.

Here’s a new clip ahead of this Friday’s wide VOD release that takes place earlier in the film when a young nurse is kidnapped.

In Leatherface, Jessica Madsen plays one of four inmates (Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, James Bloor) who escapes from a mental hospital. One of them becomes the title character and iconic slasher. Vanessa Grasse also stars

Here’s the official synopsis for the film, penned by Seth M. Sherwood…

“In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with 3 other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface.”

  • This Friday is Leatherface. The Friday after is Jigsaw. Colour me excited. Especially when IT, Cult of Chucky, and Victor Crowley already lived up to the hype.

This film is literally one of the worst films I’ve ever seen – I’m talking worse than Wrong Turn 3! it makes Texas chainsaw 3D seem like a masterpiece!

the movie sucked, just saw it a few days ago.

This is one of the most toneless and ugly horror films I’ve seen in ages.
This is exploitation without the verve or sheer audacity of what makes exploitation intriquing.
The Next Generation is a genuine masterwork compared to this. At least that film has the balls to be batshit crazy. This film is just lazy in literally every way.

The movie relied too much on shock value, but it had a couple decent characters and intense scenes. All in all, it could’ve been worse. I enjoyed it, for the most part.

Spoilers: I just watched it. I had been looking forward to it for a year now and while it was not great, it was no worse than 3D and probably a little better as the characters were nowhere near as annoying. The opening sequence was too much too soon and that kind of ruined the movie. Humanizing Leatherface (having him talk so much, etc) did not jive with the character. Overall I am glad I watched it but like most modern horror movies, it relied too much on blood and guts to be scary. When will directors learn, blood and guts is NOT SCARY if it’s for nothing but the sake of violence (yes, that includes the Saw sequels). Overall, not as good as the remake or The Beginning, better than the next generation and 3D. They missed an opportunity to make a really good movie though.
