A24 Dates Two Horror Films for Early 2018

Why 'The Blackcoat's Daughter' Has the Best Ending of Any Contemporary Horror Film [Horror Queers Podcast]

A24 is the best friend of us horror fans. They’ve been taking some huge risks with indie titles that typically would get dumped straight to VOD. It all started with the wild and crazy Spring Breakers and really gained footing when they released Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin (2013), which starred Scarlett Johansson as a mysterious young woman who seduces lonely men in the evening hours in Scotland.

While I despised Kevin Smith’s Tusk, A24 at least took a big risk, which you rarely see distributors do these days. We knew they were for real, however, when they got behind Ex Machina, before launching out of the gate with The Witch, Green Room, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, and more recently It Comes at Night and A Ghost Story. They’ve had various level of success but it’s all come with a love for the genre and a belief that it can do well.

They’ve apparently got plenty more horror films in the pipeline as they’ve dated two more for 2018, on both March 16th and April 27th. We haven’t the faintest clue as to what they are but we feel confident that they won’t disappoint. A24 has our backs, and we have theirs…
