Lots of New Footage in This ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ Featurette

It’s like getting a ticket to the best boxing match ever,” says John Boyega.

While Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water expands theatrically this coming weekend, the Steven S. DeKnight-directed sequel to his Pacific Rim is nearing its release date.

Pacific Rim Uprising arrives on March 23, 2018, and a new featurette that just hit out of this past weekend’s Tokyo Comic-Con is home to lots of new footage!

In the sequel…

“The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.

John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.

Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious‘ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.”

Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Jing Tian, Levi Meaden, and Adria Arjona also star.

I know the initial trailer was a little “meh” but I’m still looking forward to this sequel, so I’m not going to spoil it by watching any more footage.
Just gonna wait patiently until March when I get to see it on the big screen.
Hopefully that much touted Johnathon Schaech cameo lives up to it’s hype – yes, I know he’s been busy shooting many new horror classics so I hope he manages to school all the other so called actors in the movie and he’s not been overdoing it.
Still, even at his worst, he still manages to channel Peter Cushing/Vincent Price/Lon Chaney all in one supreme performance.
    I cannot wait!

Yes! Ignore the warning signs so you can just be very disappointed in the final product but have foolishly given your money to an studio that evidences no care whatsoever for this franchise!

To be quite honest I really don’t take too much heed when it comes to movie trailers.
There have been tons of movies that looked amazing due to their trailer, which turned out crappy, and vice-versa.

There are some who reckon the CG in the new movie will be lame because it doesn’t look too brilliant in the trailer, but it is possible that it’s work in progress, as there have been quite a few times in the past where the CG in the movie has been vastly superior to what was used in the movies trailer.
        So, who knows?
The movie doesn’t have to be Shakespeare – just as long as I can have a good time, turn my brain off and have a little fun with the movie.

  • The first one entertained. I’ll watch the sequel.

Not that Pacific Rim was any great shakes, but it certainly didn’t deserve to be converted into an even shittier-looking version of Transformers.

no need for a sequel, and it lacks Del Toro anyway, it looks ok, and it does not sound great, meh
