Zombie Saves the Day in New ‘Day of the Dead: Bloodline’ Clip

The remake arrives in theaters, VOD, and Digital HD on January 5, 2018.

Director Hèctor Hernández Vicens unleashes “a bold new reimagining” of the classic George A. Romero zombie film with Day of the Dead: Bloodline, starring Johnathon Schaech as Max, a sort of new version of Romero’s Bub. But before Max becomes a zombie, he’s a human being who’s just as nasty as an undead ghoul.

Meet the pre-zombie Max below, in this new clip from Rue Morgue.

In the reimagining, “A small group of military personnel and survivalists dwell in an underground bunker as they seek to find a cure in a world overrun by zombies.”

The film stars Sophie Skelton, Johnathon Schaech, Marcus Vanco, Jeff Gum (Exeter, The Vault), Lorina Kamburova (Nightworld, Leatherface Death Race 4), Nick Loeb, Rachel O’Meara, Debbie Sherman, Luke Cousins, Nathan Cooper, Lillian Blankenship, and Cristina Serafini. Campbell Grobman Films (Leatherface, Hellboy) produces with Jeff Rice.

    We’re meant….to be.. together…….
    That delivery – chilling…..

I’m already getting the beers in for Oscar night, so I can see the Schaechmeister clean up at them!

2018 is going down as the “Year Of Telling A Story With Your Body”

I’m thinking a Schaech/Schaech ticket in the 2020 presidential race isn’t out of the realm of possibility

      • Hayden Koutras

We’re talking the Johnathon Schaech himself? He has more than a ticket in the presidential race. he’s already won. Schaech has already won billions over with his portrayal in this film, so to doubt what he’s capable of would be fooling yourself. he was born to play the role of Bu- right. Max.

        • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

Well…his body was. His spirit was made to soar like dragons on the wind.

          • Saturn

Indeed – I believe that only He can truly bring peace between Israel/Palestine, North Korea/USA. and England/Scotland.

          • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

Merely imagining it has brought peace between my stomach and the bowl of red hot chili I just ate. A feat that a full dose of alka seltzer couldn’t accomplish

          • Saturn

You should really swap over to Alka Schaechtzer….

2018 Oscars are going to be off the chain, son. I have some friends in the academy, and they swore me to secrecy, but this is just too good to keep to myself. In anticipation of Schaech’s impending win, the academy has taken Oscar Isaac (he went willingly of course) and dipped him in molten 24 karat gold in order to create an “Oscar” statue worthy of Schaech’s radiant splendor.

        And so it shall be!

      The Prophecy will be complete!

  • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

In the beginning the light of Schaech was all the water and sunshine we needed to survive, crawl from the depths of the sea, and rise above the jungle floor, upright on two legs to seek our greater destiny. While the insects and beasts of the earth scraped by, in constant brutal conflict for shelter, meat, and nectar, Schaech smiled upon us, and shaped us in his image. Teaching us the of the ways of reading, writing, and science. Granting us the ability to create vast wonders, to reshape the lands, to harness the very atom. Schaech was out lifeblood. The energy in our cells. The magical Schaechian vapor in our lungs that gave us breath. Our humanity. But it was all a prelude.

The period of time between when we flopped, gills gasping, from the black primordial waters, to this moment, when we have overcome, conquered and discovered all there is, to become the lord and masters of this planet, has all been a long march, a millineum long wind up, a soul quest, leading up to one moment…THE moment…January 5th 2018

Schaech’s FULL acting ability shall be unleashed. Not even the furthest corners of the world shall escape it.

What will happen, exactly, not even Jonathan Schaech himself may know, but one thing is for certain. The world, nay LIFE as you know it will never be the same…

    Stay tuned kids

You know that you’re not supposed to post from The Schaeran online, and if you do it’s meant to be in the original Schaechabic language it was revealed in as translations into any other language can lead to all kinds of unfortunate misinterpretations.
I have spoken to our Schaelif who says He has forgiven this transgression – for He is merciful.

We do seem to be having a problem with non believers at the moment, who actually believe that The Learned Protocols Of The Elders Of Schaeion is a real plan for our global domination. They cannot suspect us – not for a MINUTE!

Peace be with you all brothers & sisters – and may you all be blessed on THAT day of which we await patiently : 5.1.18.

      • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

You are correct as usual brother. Though by no means an excuse, the problem was that for now it is difficult to find a keyboard with full Schaechian dialect enabled.

Though I assume this too will be quickly remedied once the day of enlightenment is upon us

        • Saturn

          Inschaeca!

As followers we must look forward to the next revelations – The Even Newer Testament, which shall deal with signs of the Anti-Schaech….
I believe the great beast of the Ashaechalypse already walks among us…

          • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

The beast is alive and living at rottentomatoes.com. Patiently it waits and prepares…

  • IWC-3PO

Mr. Squires…you and I both know that thou shalt not invoke His name without paying homage to His status as The Horror Icon… Jonathan Schaech.

  • Chifuyu Hiroya

Really hate to tell you guys this but the movie had already premiered here in Vietnam for about a week or so and holy god, it was horrendous. The only enjoyable part about the movie was how great Johnathon Schaec as Max was. He had no doubt given his best, but his character has zero substance and very one note. The rest, i don’t have a lot to talk about, the plot is very idiotic and generic, the characters are yours typical horror movie’s stereotypes. A wasted potential.

    • Necro

I don’t think you ruined anybody’s day with that news!

      • MrX13

Almost ruined mine but was resurrected by the performance of Schaech….haha not really. I kind of still want to see this movie

    • Saturn

Of course Schaech was great – he’s Johnathon “The Horror Icon, The Legendary Horror Legend” Schaech.

And I look forward to Brad’s 4 and a half skull review tomorrow!

      • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

        It’s already got a 4.5 rating on imdb…

        out of 10.

        This morning it was 6.5

Brad Miska may need a hug by this evening

  • MrX13

To be honest, I don’t why everyone talks about Schaech the way they do. I have seen in him in the Laid To Rest (ChromeSkull) movies, Prom Night, and Quarantine, but I don’t know any other horror movies he’s done. I just go along with it, it’s funny!

As for the movie, the Nick Cannon movie was pretty bad, but somehow still liked it. So I’m sure I will like this new one.

    • Saturn

Um, because Emperor Schaech is bad-arse, and is the Saviour of modern horror.

      • MrX13

He is, I just didn’t realize he was in that many horror movies.

        • Saturn

Schaech’s been in a ton of horror/thriller movies.
2001’s The Forsaken is one that I heartily recommend, a pretty solid vampire movie that seems to have blown under most peoples radar – he was also in the more recent vampire movie Nocturna too, although I cannot comment on that one yet..
Jackals, another recent home invasion movie, is well worth a viewing – it’s one of the better movies of that particular sub-genre.
Schaechy has been in a ton of genre stuff over the years – and has earned his title of LEGENDARY HORROR LEGEND with honour.

          • MrX13

I see your point! haha. Jackals is another movie I want to see. Looks good! But I see that he’s in plenty of horror movies and has earned the right to Legendary Horror Legend!

    • Cuesta Verde

You mean you haven’t seen Dark Circles, Flight 7500, The Forsaken, Hush or The Mummy and the Armadillo? Pure magic.

      • MrX13

I have seen The Forsaken, but not the others you mentioned. Shit, I need to get on board with these other movies.

  • Saturn

I’ll second the love for the Laid To Rest movies – I’m also patiently awaiting the 3rd movie that was promised a few years back.

    • Kristoffer Groves

When Schaech has decided that he is pleased with our burnt offerings, he may see fit to bless us, his undeserving children, with a third Laid To Rest movie (Laid To R3st, if you will)

      • Saturn

We should start a campaign to get Schaechy the lead role in a remake of the vastly inferior Burnt Offerings.

    • Necro

Are they f**king brutal films or what?! I try to put significant time in between viewings, meaning a year or two, it’s hard though cuz they deliver so much of what I look for in a ‘slasher’ film. When I do finally give in I forget just how great they are!

  • Cuesta Verde

The acting, writing, editing and cinematography is beyond atrocious. This is Syfy movie quality and worse than I expected. The only thing that makes this worth the watch is obviously the man, the myth, the legend-Jonathan Schaech.

    • Saturn

Indeed, Schaech, the legendary horror legend, is legendary in Day Of The Dead Bloodline. .
I actually give permission to the film makers to use that on their dvd cover of the movie.

  • Kristoffer Groves

Chromeskull is definitely the man. Have you seen The Collector? He’s basically Jigsaw in Jason Voorhees’ body, a bad motherlover.

    • Saturn

I had a blast with both Collector movies – again, like with Laid To Rest, we were promised a third movie to complete the trilogy, but still we wait…..

    • Saturn

In case you didn’t know (you probably did, but there will be folks out there who don’t) The Collector actually started off as a Saw sequel.

  • Saturn

Chromeskull really should have gone on to become iconic in horror circles as the costume is cool, as are the kill methods.

Chromeskull 3 : Convention Of Blood!

    • Necro

I would love it if both (Chromeskull & Collector) would finally get a 3rd film to complete the trilogy. My extreme fantasy would be a ‘Chromeskull vs. The Collector’ film, whether that would count as a 3rd film towards both franchises is open for debate. But man if that would be done right, that could be f**king great! Your thoughts?

      • Saturn

        I’d be open to a cross-over movie.
How would it be done though, that’s the issue?
I’d have to re-watch the movies again to come up with a way of crossing them over, as it’s been a while….

I suppose the obvious way would be if both The Collector and Chromeskull coincidentally turn up at the same place, with the same target in mind (*I’ve named a potential further along in this post) – but that would be a little bit lazy, we’d need something a little more interesting to tie them together.

I suppose another prospect would be that both The Collector and Chromeskull have in actuality been working alongside each other all the time, and maybe a back story is developed to show them both becoming their titular characters, with a twist being that they are on a mission to recruit somebody new into their world. Someone who has shown great potential, but needs a little help to go on to become one of the greats of the slasher world. *Leslie Vernon.

A dream project though would be that several slashers (it would have to be some of the lesser ones, as I doubt there’d be a chance in hell of Freddy/Jason/Michael being involved) are being gathered together for an ultimate battle cross-over movie – with said slashers pitted against each other, AND other people who have been brought into the game (possibly survivors of the slashers )- with only one left standing at the end, Battle Royale style.
But that’s just slasher fanboy me dreaming.

        • Necro

I like that pitted against each other idea! It made me think of that Steve Austin movie ‘The Condemned’. That would be really cool to see all the “lower level” slashers trapped and/or thrown together in some remote place left to their own devices and forced to kill each other off. I like it! We should put a copyright on that in case someone reads it and has connections and ends up stealing the idea and turns it into a independent film!

As far as the ‘Chromeskull – Collector’ crossover the only thing I know is at the end of ‘Laid to Rest 2’ he ended up in LA so……..and at the end of ‘The Collection’ he ended up in that trunk by Josh Stewart, no clue what he did with him. Maybe Josh ends up taking a trip to LA for a reason yet to be determined, and naturally ‘Collector’ escapes and………………??

          • Saturn

            Blood.
Oh yes, there will be blood….

  • MrX13

Glad to hear that you enjoyed Laid To Rest, those were some brutal kills in those movie and I enjoyed them. I remember seeing The Forsaken and just saw the trailer for Dark Circles and that looks good. I just didn’t realize he was in so many horror movies. Schaech is a horror legend!!

As for horror slasher icons, Chromeskull does get forgotten and that is sad. But I hope a third one comes about but if not, Chromeskull is a badass slasher

    • Necro

Hell yeah X I love those films, another sort of up the same alley is ‘The Collector’ films as well.

Yeah Schaech is in a few, I really like his death scene in the first ‘Laid to Rest’ film! Since BD glorifies him so much that kill should be on ‘Kill of the Week’ sometime in the near future. And if not that, at least one kill from that film, there’s a good selection to choose from! I think Hall will come through for us and give us that 3rd film.

      • MrX13

Ugh f**k yeah, that knife coming out of nowhere and then his face getting ripped off, that was badass!! That is a great kill from a slasher movie! We shall wait for LtR3!

        • Necro

Yeah X when I watched it the other day I forgot about that death and I jumped up like I’ve never seen it before! I love when that happens!

          • MrX13

I didn’t see that coming and that is what I like to see, to be surprised. That was a perfect surprise and would like to see more of those in horror movies.
