Fear What’s Inside the ‘Annihilation’ Poster

We already gushed over the first trailer for Ex Machina director Alex Garland‘s Annihilation, which took us into this dream-like sci-fi horror nightmare that harkens back to all sorts of genre films like Jurassic Park, Predator, and even Contact. Now, here’s the film’s official poster that steps into the extraterrestrial plane and exclaims to “fear what’s inside.”

In his new film, Natalie Portman (V for Vendetta, Black Swan) plays a biologist who signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don’t apply. “[She] finds a very strange, dream-like, surrealist landscape, and goes deeper and deeper into that world, and also into that mindset,” Garland told EW when initially announced.

Jennifer Jason Leigh (Amityville: The Awakening, The Hateful Eight, “Twin Peaks”), Tuva Novotny, Gina Rodriguez, and Tessa Thompson (Creed, When a Stranger Calls) costar as her fellow team members, while Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) plays Portman’s husband.

Paramount will release it in theaters on February 23, 2018.

This movie looks amazing. That poster not so much. It’s a shame they are dumping it on Netflix in most countries.

Really? when, where . . . wait, REALLY?

      • Matt Miller

Yeah, they’ll put it on Netflix three weeks after the release in theathers in the US. I think in the rest of the world will go directly to Netflix. It seems the studio is afraid that it bombs like Blade Runner last year so they don’t want to risk with another big sci-fi movie that is actually good but people won’t go to watch. Anyway I think it’s worth to watch in the big screen, I’d go if they bring it here.

Netflix. The direct to VHS of the digital age.

  • Nefferson Taveira

    what an ugly poster

  • Jay Bennett

Damn, too late to being the first to say the poster is ugly

  • Lil Malk

I feel that they could’ve done better with the poster. Seems a bit too… lazy? Plain? It just doesn’t seem like a best effort. Ah well, questionable poster aside, I’m still very excited to see this film.

    • Chūjitsuna Heiho

Mediocre? Insipid? Lukewarm? Design by Committee?

      • Lil Malk

While I get the general feeling that we may disagree about the film itself, I commend your grasp of descriptors for this poster. 😀

  • Yarmouth Lad

I have read the first book….quite boring, so i guess for the film they are changing it alot….

    • Chūjitsuna Heiho

A youth reading books. Very quaint and admirable. Two point to you.

  • Lame poster

  • Chūjitsuna Heiho

Nathalie Portman- untalented lame wooden marionette. Every time I see here I’m reminded of Queen Amygdala “this is how democracy dies-with a cheer”. Or some trite sht like that. from George Lucas dreadful Lord of the Rings rip off.

Could be worse- could be the Rouge 1 the Ethnic Diversity with sassy jive-speaking robot.

    • J Jett

you are a very miserable person, aren’t you?

      • Chūjitsuna Heiho

Quite. Misanthropic I think would be better.
