Underrated Sequel ‘The Collection’ Just Added to Netflix Streaming
As for The Collector, it’s streaming through Shudder/Amazon Prime!
We just recently talked about The Collection here on Bloody Disgusting, the 2012 sequel to The Collector that was featured as our Kill of the Week a couple weeks ago; we spotlighted the dance party massacre at the start of the film, which is just spectacular.
Josh Stewart reprised the role of Arkin for the Marcus Dunstan-directed The Collection, which tasked Arkin with rescuing an innocent girl from the killer’s booby-trapped lair.
If you’re asking me, The Collection is one of the better franchise sequels, expanding upon the first film and taking everything to the next level. In fact, The Collection was so kickass that I’m still bummed we never got a full franchise out of the titular villain; judging by comments on the aforementioned article, I’m not alone in feeling that.
In any event, The Collection is now streaming on Netflix. Enjoy!
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
