This Friday, Netflix will release Duncan Jones‘ hotly anticipated Mute, which stars Alexander Skarsgård as a mute bartender who goes up against his city’s gangsters in an effort to find out what happened to his missing partner, and Netflix shared the first trailer that’s a neon-soaked dream.
While the trailers and initial imagery are a neon-soaked wet dream, we’ve got the full set of stills that take a turn to the darker side of the film. Even with the blood and promise of violence, there are even more images that will light up your screen. This looks like a must-see this weekend.
Mute is set in the near-future where Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) is a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo’s search for her takes him deep into the city’s seedy underbelly. A pair of wise-cracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only recurring clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love.
Jones, the son of David Bowie, has become a filmmaker fav of the community, directing Moon, Source Code, and even Warcraft.
