Fan casting became reality when it was announced last year that Oscar Isaac was in talks to voice Gomez Addams in Sausage Party director Conrad Vernon‘s animated Addams Family film for MGM, and that casting has since been confirmed. Today, the entire core voice cast was announced, and it’s pretty fantastic all around.

Charlize Theron will voice Morticia Addams, with Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams. The cast also includes Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, and Allison Janney as Margaux Needler.

The film follows the family as they face-off against a crafty reality TV host (Janney) while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration.

Moretz got her start by starring in Platinum Dunes’ The Amityville Horror remake alongside Ryan Reynolds, and also starred in the Carrie and Let Me In remakes. Wolfhard broke out in Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and even more so in New Line’s IT. He can also be seen in Amblin’s The Turning. Theron’s horror history dates back to the Keanu Reeves-starring The Devil’s Advocate.

Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride) wrote the script, with revisions by Matt Lieberman. Vernon will produce with Gail Berman and Alex Schwartz, principals of production house the Jackal Group. Andrew Mittman and Kevin Miserocchi will exec produce. Deadline first reported the news.

The film has been dated for release on October 11, 2019.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
